I love vintage LP's and aged hardware that shows with time but this shit is getting ridiculous.

I have not joined MLP because of this. Threads comparing shades or color. Sourcing 260 dollar pickup rings because they're exact replicas. Keyboard jockeys being all knowing experts on things that originated before they were a twinkle in someone's eye. It's just getting old.

Talk of theory or general appreciation of a fine axe is moot as Dave Johnson/Tom Murpgy hasn't personally taken a shit on the guitar makes it somehow insignificant.

Don't get me wrong, I like my parts to look/feel well made but 70 dollar toggle switches, 50 dollar pointers, 100 pick guards. Just wow.

There's a lot besides that over on MLP, bro. It's mostly in the Vintage and Historics sections. Other than that it's a cool place with a ton of well informed cats. I have a question about a LP, most of the time I don't even need to ask; there's lots of info to search through. Don't let the vintage weenies get ya.

Also, $1,899 for that is nothing short of ridiculous. I get making/wanting to make your LP look as vintage as possible; I reliced mine. Sandpaper on a brand new ring works just as well. To each their own.

Valid points.

Just as much as using amber stain mixed with tobacco brown. Tea bags for a faux parchment look.

I made my LP vintage looking but I didn't spend an arm and a leg.

For me, it seems every outside search link to MLP (Google) leads me to some asshat debate on color/texture/smell.

If I had a Historic Makeovers LP; I'd play the shit out of it!

OK.....stop right there. You know as well as I do that the way your guitar smells and the texture near the bridge is nothing less than 'make or break' important in the overall scheme of how it sounds and plays. I can't even believe I have to say this out loud to you. :D

Semantics

You know what I mean!

I'm not up to speed with the world of vintage/collectible LP stuff so I can't comment on authenticity or value but $1800 is nuts to me.

With the exception of selling the part for a good profit, I wouldn't give $1 for it. :D

I can't believe you guys are leaving out the $300 guitar cable....

The NOS picks with the old picks containing PCB's are essential. The interaction with the vintage copper and magnets in the pickups, surrounded by the 50 year old pick up rings seals in the leaking electrons.

Tonevanna...

I bought it!

Tossed it on my Epiphone Les Paul 100!

SOUNDS SO MUCH BETTER, MORE BLOOM, MORE TOUCH SENSITIVITY! Man the stock chip was killing this guitar!

Two points I want to make then I'm out...

(1) I can see only one instance where the $1899 poker chip is even remotely tolerable...if a person owning a real '58-'60 burst is in need of one to make the guitar complete, then it will jump the guitar's value way higher than the price of the chip alone.

(2) Dave Johnson doesn't shit on his guitars, Aristocrat. He let's his horses do that, but only if they want to...

$10 for shipping? just throw it in an envelope and put a stamp on it. done.

Wow, and I came up with that inference completely off the cuff.

Thanks for the proof!

That's the secret to a good DJ aged finish...road apples.
