MURDERATOR
building a shed style roof over my mother's cellar....nothing fancy, just dry it in. 84 lumber wanted almost $600 in lumber for framing it up. non-treated. I called my buddy up who has a sawmill. got all rough cut true to size lumber for $180. And it's oak. You want a 2x4, you get a 2x4. Not 1.5"x3.5". should be able to park a tractor on it when we are done. Hope it takes nails from my gun. Stuff is heavy and hard to work with but damn....that's a lot of savings. The 180 also included a bunch 1x4 oak to use as purlins to attach the roof panels with. Can get just about any species you need. Oak, basswood, cherry, maple, ash, alder, locust, hemlock, hickory,,,anything native to the east coast.

Portable sawmills are awesome. That's gonna be a solid roof.

Luckily my nailgun is working. That's some hard shit. You should smell it after the gun fires. Using 3 1/4" coated and galvinized ringshank nails. The coating is glue. The heat and friction from the nail going in sets the glue. The ringshanks have these spirals that are basically barbs facing outwards to keep the nails from creeping out from expansion and contraction. If you have a misfire you either have to break it off or beat it in. They will not come out. Plus having a framing nailer is like being on welfare and not having to work. Almost.
