Pretty sure the "Hot" is alnico based and I could have sworn I saw somewhere that it was about 14k.

Yes the Luxxbucker Hot is Alnico 5, 14k. I put one in a all mahogany Jackson soloist and it KILLS in that guitar!

Those coils are uneven. They are built like the Seymour Duncan 59/Custom pickups. Same concept.
