Not surprising news, but I decided to listen to the new album Babylon today anyway. IMHO, the songs are not great. A few decent listeners in the bunch but nothing that really jumped out at me. However, I did really like pretty much all of the leads. Several outro leads that were really cool as well. If you like Lynch's lead style, worth skipping around to hear those!

I listen to almost all George’s stuff for the solos only . I like a few dokken and like 2 lynch mob tracks but it’s really about his solos

What’s was George thinking here ? I’m turning my 80s rock band into bum metal shred ? Lol the music is not bad actually but to go from the other singers to this was like???????

..always a great marketing scheme to announce a retirement or farewell tour, then of course comes the reunion tours!:ROFLMAO:

I'm not sure what George is up to. He' plays like every night somewhere with Lynch Mob , Jeff Blando , Terry Ilous, AON . A new video on youTube everyday. He comes dressed casually , plays all kinds of his music, Dokken , covers and really looks like he's having fun . I don' t know if he's bored, broke or what but personally I think it's great . He appears to be healthy at 69 . What more could you ask for in his position? His days of putting out cutting edge music are long gone.

And he’s released three albums this year. Sweet & Lynch , solo instrumental, and Lynch Mob . I’m a huge fan so I hope catch a few shows

A good friend of mine since our teen years is playing drums for him. Looks like they are having fun. But, I think he's close to calling it a day....
To my ears and eyes he appears really tired. I'll be honest, I've never been a fan, but wish him the best in his golden years...

I see that too.. I think he could have been more selective with what he released and how often he gigs and tours but he seems to have in part needed the revenue but maybe also, to stay relevant. He likes the attention he can get and who wouldn't? I like that he has continued to tour for the fans and for enjoyment when he could barely spare a guitar pick because he only had 5 left to last him the last leg of a bar tour. I'd like to see him get into producing, he probably has some incredible and rare gear amps and pedal wise in his home studio. It looks like a guitar and studio nerd's paradise in there.

My understanding is Lynch did not want that to be an LM record.
From an interview:
“For instance, the LYNCH MOB record ‘Smoke This’ that came out, I think, in ’99 or 2000, that was not supposed to be a LYNCH MOB record; that really wasn’t anything to do with LYNCH MOB. At the end of the day, after the record was done and we were delivering it to the label, they insisted on using that name as insurance. And if I hadn’t agreed to that, we wouldn’t have had a record. That’s the kind of pressure I’m talking about."

I remember buying Smoke This from a used CD shop a long time ago......popped it in the CD player for the drive and, literally, threw it out the window before I got home. I feel bad.....about littering......

Ok, I'm listening to the album today at work and there is some killer playing by George on this one. He is on point rythmically and lead wise no question. The big issue here is the singing. This guy sucks. His sleaze style and drawn out Axl style notes just kill the vibe. Comes across as a Mark Slaughter and Axl mashup and it is total $hit. George is honestly playing fantastic on this one. Has a great vibe, awesome lead chops and the whole thing sounds a lot like the 2nd Lynch Mob album which I personally really like. The problem? No Mason. The songs get battered by this singer. Mason would have been the absolute right choice on this one. I don't know what Lynch was thinking. Hell, Jeff Scott Sotto. A guy with tone rather than a scowl.

Sad that this is the way it ends because I think it is a solid album which could have been a very good album with the right singer. Def not what we have here.

Agree with everything you said. I heard George raving about this singer on an interview. I think he sounds like crap. Mason is the man

I really like the new album but with every listen I’m thinking it would be so much better with Oni on vocals. Robert Mason would’ve also been a great choice but I heard he’s not on vocals with The End Machine anymore so I guess he’s moved on from George
