I bought a LTD Lynch Tiger M1 model to my kids, put a Dimarzio Gravity Storm Pickup and loved it.
I am thinking in to buy the Custom one, but instead a Basswood body as the LTD, it has a Maple body.
Does anyone here have played both and could you tell me the main difference between them?

Made in Indonesia or Korea vs made in Japan with better parts. The same as any other company's cheaper brand.

I haven't played the mentioned models...
But maple guitars have a special sound...I would buy a maple one just for the sound...

I have not had experience with these exact models but I have Japanese ESP Kamikaze-I (maple body, one piece maple neck and ebony fretboard) and it has really nice sound and feel to it. It is on the heavier side (similar to a Les Paul) but got a special character going for it, really cool guitar overall! I would think that the Tiger M-I will be in the same ballpark.

I am not a wood expert - but a few on this forum are. I recently built a partscaster and spoke with the folks at Warmoth about a maple body. I was looking for some of the tightness and chunk I hear in hard, heavy northern ash (which Warmoth does not offer?) They said Big Leaf maple will do that in spades without being overly bright like rock maple can be. I went with their recommendation and did a Big Leaf Maple body. The guitar is a heavy sumbich for a strat, but it has all the girth and mass of a nice LP.

Ive had mixed results with basswood guitars. A couple have sounded pretty nice and a few have just sounded soft and tubby - no matter what pickup is in it. I do think heavy, gloss finishes with lots of grain filler help firm up the sound and feel of basswood guitars.

I liked all Basswood guitars I had and have as EVH, Jem and this LTD.
The funny part all them have Floyds and even thought they have sustain for days. Even better than all my Les Pauls Zakk's, R9's and signatures which have a fixed bridges.
