Hey guys, I'm looking to get some opinions on Celestion Lynchbacks vs the Heritage G12-65 speakers.

I do love the tones I'm getting from my current cabs (UK V30s mixed with G12H30 70th anniversaries, and V30s mixed with Creamback H75s). These sound great; however, I recently picked up an old Marshall cab and I'm looking to try something different. No sense having all my cabinets sounding the same. I figured I'd go with something more classic/vintage sounding. Classic rock/hard rock is my thing. Not looking to do metal, but I do hate the bottom end to be too loose.

I like the chinese greenbacks, but I want to get something with more power handling and a tighter bottom end.

I've heard good things about the Lynchback, but I've also heard that some guys find it too dark. Would be curious to hear any thoughts/experiences on these or the Heritage G12-65s, which don't seem to get talked about too often.

i got a pair of heritage g12-65 and they are to smooth for me, i prefer the regular 75 but i use single coils

What amp? I find the 65s to be the best speakers to my ears with a Marshall. LBs are kind of a cross between a V30 and a GB, to my ears. Great with my old SLO, but hit or miss with Marshalls. 65s have a tight bottom end, not as tight as a V30 though. That's been my experience.

I have 4 lynchbacks in a 4x12 cab.
It sounds good , but yes it is dark.
I have only tried it on my bogner ecstacy.
I want to try to mix two with a pair of brighter speakers to even it out.
Im sure it depends on what amp.

Thanks guys. In response to the amp question, I'll be using a few of them...

Morris GCM 008 (which goes from plexi tones to a modded-Marshall thing)
Marshall Major with RT mod
Diezel Paul

All of those amps can be pretty bright and cutting if dialed in that way, so maybe the Lynchback would be fine? Only one way to know for sure of course, but I figured I'd ask for some feedback here first before pulling the trigger.

My main cab for my Friedman Smallbox is a Marshall 1960BX with Lynchbacks and it sounds killer. I also use that cab with my Diezel Herbert MKII when using channel 2 to get those amazing blues/rock/hardrock tones. So they should sound amazing with your Diezel Paul too. I use my Diezel cab when

I have original '81 G12-65's, a Heritage one and used to own a WGS ET-65.

The originals were the darkest and thickest of the bunch, but note that this is a speaker that comes alive at stage volumes. Then it bringeth the Punch!

To me, the mix with a V30 is very nice. Thick and clear. Especially with older brighter Marshall circuits, the G12-65 can add the much needed low-end and tame some sizzle.
