apparently..... i think he mixes em up. Probably uses RI greenies in one cab, SUPER V's in his older lynchbox cabs and then lynchbacks

My friend got a set last week in a Zilla Fat boy cab, they sound great, instant gas!

To me it's the perfect blend of Greenback and T75's, really smooth and not over thick so lead sounds fantastic. I would love a set to run with V30's.

We used it for all the lead tones on my bands EP. I will have some clips soon and post them.

Yeah it did!

I talked to my brother in law who lives in New York. He got his Lynchbacks this week and says they absolutely smoke! He described them as a cross between a Greenback and a V30, with a lot of clarity. a bit darker than a lot of Celestions, thick mids and the highs are there for sure but he said they are nowhere near harsh. Great tight lows, but not too much in the way of lows. I will play them next weekend. He is a classic rock guy and say they are perfect for classic rock guys.

Not a lot of lows? Might mix well with a Creamback.

Does Lynch even use these?

I had a conversation with Lynch at a recent show and he said he loves these speakers, and finally got someone to build what he hears in his head when it comes to a speaker. I am sort of surprised they don't make it in the U.K. factory.

I thought it was kinda interesting that they are loading them in this amp

Also check out the comment, not sure if it's from Stu or not...

"The G12-50GL delivers on Celestion's marketing by doing exactly what they claim; blending the most desirable characteristics of the classic 25 and 30 watt ceramic Celestions of the 60's with the higher headroom and more aggresive mid character of Celestion's modern designs The result is a perfect blend of thick, creamy leads and rhythm tones that cut through a mix with authority. In the OD35, at least, this speaker is magic! I'm actually not suprised. George Lynch may be viewed as an 80's shred guitarist, but his tone has always been an impeccable blend of woody, thick, detailed vintage and modern aggression. "

May be viewed as and 80's shred guitarist, but... :hys:

Also, check out these http://wgs4.com/invader-50-50-watts

A friend of my dad's has them and is raving but I haven't had a chance to hear them yet.

I have a quad loaded in a marshall 1960b and I like um. They work well with higain amps and have a tight bottom. I use the cab with my 79 jmp with a 82 tube screamer and the set up just work nice. I will say they are on the darker thick creamy side, no ice pick highs here. I think they are a really nice speaker for the price. Just my 2 cents. Soon they will be gettin a work out from the CCV. The speakers have Lynch on them they have to sound good.

Thick and creamy, dark? I emailed Celestion and they claim they are bright, gritty and sparkly!

so I guess he didn't like the superV s eminence designed for him? I thought he was excited about those too? Personally I dig mine. Too bad those were discontinued.

Got two Lynchbacks in my Stone Age 212C. Man, they sound good. Not bright, nor dark, very balanced. Remind me of Greenbacks with a deeper and tighter bottom, and smoother than Greenbacks. Beautifully voiced!!!!!

I compared them a bit to Splawn Smallblocks and the Lynchbacks are smoother for sure.

No ice pick or anything annoying. I think V30s are still my number one, go to speaker, but these are right there.

The 'ice-pick' is most often levelled at the V30, a speaker I also rate as my fave.
How would you compare the Lynchback to the V30 e.g. what do you have to do to your amp settings in going between the 2?
When and if they come out in 16ohm, I'll check out the Lynchback.

I received a Lynchback yesterday. I also have WGS Invaders, Eminence GB12's, and Weber Legacy 65's. I'll do an in depth comparison tonight.

I should start by saying that I no longer play metal and really have no desire too. Most of my playing these days is around rock, hard rock, blues, grunge anjd indy rock. The LBs are more open and airy than the V30s, more top end sizzle, but not as much sizzle as GBs. Like GBs with deeper, tighter lows and smoother. They beat out my Invaders!
People should forget about George Lynch when they look at these speakers. They are great for many styles, that need a smoother Greenback.

My PWE Event Horizon through my Stone Age and Lynchbacks is one of the best guitar tones I have heard in 26 years of playing!!!!!

Next I want to try the Creambacks!

Im LOVING my Lynchbacks but since I am getting a Splawn, I decided to order a Creamback to mix with one Lynchback in my Stone Age 212.
I will have one Lynchback for sale shortly if anyone is interested.

I am. Don't they only come in 16ohm though? I have a M75 loaded up in a 1X12 that I thought about switching out with a Lynchback but I need 8ohm.

Lynchbacks come in 8 ohm, you are thinking about the EVH speakers which only come in 16 ohm.
