Hey all.

I just bought a G system limited and have a quesiton about fully utilizing the pre and post efx section of the system.

I am using and Egnater M4 and a Randall RT2x50 and I understand that by placing the unit between the m4 and the radall I create an efx loop. My question is how do I run certain efx into the front of the amp if the m4 input is already in use by the loop?

Thanks
Drew

Hey Drew,

Your best best is to head over to the TC forum and look up a white paper by Laird Williams. It is the easiest way to get all three pieces working properly together. What you are looking to do is run in a 4 cable method. The simplified signal flow is:

Guitar - G Input: (Buffer optional, but I recommend it)
G Insert Send - M4 input: Crucial part is to turn on the "insert lock". This interupts the signal path and sends only the filter compressor and analog audio loops out. TC recommends using a balance TRS/TRS cable here.
M4 out - GS insert return **** This is a spot for close scrutiny. You may need either an Ebtech Hum Elimator, Ebtech LLS or both.
GS Out L/R - RT/250. Again, the Ebtech pieces may need to be explored here.

I was able to setup the G with my mod50 by only needing a LLS in between the serial loop and G System. However, you may need a rackmount HE-8 to deal with the potential hum points of a stereo rig (if that is your goal). My suggestion is to hook up the G in a four cable without anything else in the chain, following the white paper page by page. Then add one ebtech piece at a time, specifically targeting each area of the rig using really good quality cable and adhering to what type of cable is recommended in the white paper. The results are excellent and well worth the work! Once you wrap your head around the signal flow, gain structure and points of hum and interference, it's a much easier process than it sounds like.

Hope that helps,

-Chris

Just put the M4 in the insert loop. Done. Stereo out of G sys to input of RT2/50.
