Is there some rule I dont know about where you can't call a timeout under 2 minutes left in the game after a sack??

40 seconds left, I get rushed by the d line and can't get the pass off. I burn 10 seconds trying to call my last remaining time out. I call a quick pass play thinking the incomplete pass will stop the clock. I get sacked again on a quick slant route. I try calling a time out again, still nothing, try pushing the start button to pause the game that way and call a time out. NOOOO. 20 yards from scoring a td to win the game, and I can't stop the clock.... :gethim:
 
Haha, that's very lame. Doesn't surprise me though. Madden always has a few annoying bugs like that. :doh:
 
despite the bugs, is madden worth picking up? thinking of grabbing it later tonight since I finally have the weekend available to play.

I notice some little glitches here and there....Basically....I haven't bought a Madden since Eddie George was on the cover, was a big 2K3 fan. But I did get Madden tuesday...my wife bought it for my birthday. I just started franchise mode with the Vikes....It is a pretty cool game! Collinsworth is right on with the comments, I swear he did weeks of audio tracks, cuz I haven't heard him say the same thing twice.

Yeah, it's a solid game and a must have if you're an NFL fan.

Agreed. 2K sports FTW. Although that All Pro 2K8 game they made last year was god awful. I don't think the development team put in as much effort with that considering it didn't have the NFL license. :aww:

You must not of played it much........he keeps repeating his story about old NFL players playing in pitch black constantly...........Tom Hammond's commentary is canned and a straight port of the same phrases used the past two years......the only thing that's been significantly changed this year is more fluid game play which is a welcome sight. Have hated Madden's robotic crap for years and yes nothing touched the 2K efforts that Visual Concepts put out with the exception of 2K8 which was caused by scaled down development. FWIW I used to write game reviews for Operationsports.com and have met and are friends with a few of the Visual Concepts developers.........they got so fucked by the EA/NFL deal........
 
yeah I'm not a fan of the nfl license only being EA.

I heard that 2k8 was going to be knowingly 'not great' because they were just getting the product out to start gearing up for when the license is free.

some other point that has been stated already, I never had a receiver actually complete a sideline catch. They always are halfway through the sideline.

Also I hate when you throw a screen pass and they catch it turn around and you can't steer them from going out. so your minus 3 yards without any chance to run.

Yeah, those problems have been in Madden games forever. It's ridiculous that they haven't fixed that yet.
 
that and running the ball is is hard as hell.

Granted, my OLINE isn't dominatingly great - 84/84/87/88/85, but my back (91), and full back (86)....

The thing that gets me is that the opposing team blitzes CONSTANTLY....


But, that said, my Lions beat the bengals 40-0 - lol, and beat the colts, falcons, bills (barely), and browns.

I finally did break a big run once - 75yd TD...ONCE. Rest of the time, 2yds, 3 yds, 1yd, 2 yds, 4 yds, 6 yds, 1 yd...not including the opnes where I loose yards... =/

That said I've found the key to it, somewhat...is to forget the sprint button exists...
 
I don't find running the ball difficult at all. That's basically all I do. Lots of running plays to set up play action passes. The exact kind of offense I hate in real life. :D :lol: :LOL:

NFL 2k is pretty much dead in the water due to the impeding EA takeover of Rockstar which owns 2K sports..........and.........the NFL upped the exclusive deal with EA for five more years a couple of months back.......Madden is the only choice it seems for a looooong time....

I've played with a bunch of different teams so far. Rams, Vikings, Jaguars, Bengals, Browns, Jets, Titans, Redskins, Saints, etc.
 
Okay...had the same happen to me last night before the half. I had one timeout left and was on the opposing 25 yard line with 12 seconds left. I let the clock run down to 5 and tried calling a timeout, but the thing wouldn't let me....the half ran out even after I paused to try and call timeout?

What the fuck????!!!!! That is bullshit!

And those are all strong running teams (Rams = Jackson is in the top 5 backs for the game) - try running with the Lions.

I usually get about 60-70/game, with 250 passing. I pass to set up the run. I try running to set up the pass, but 3-out on 2yd runs just doesn't cut it.

I've broken a couple of big gains before - but they are VERY rare, and this is with Jones-Drew traded from the Jags, and a few FA's.
 
I used to play as the Lions all the time on last years version. Mike Martz offense (passing every down no matter the situation) FTW. :D :lol: :LOL:
 
If this timeout bug is for real, its gonna cost me and my boys hundreds in smashed controllers.
