I was messing around last night and wasn't satisfied with my GH50L's tone, so I got up this morning, changed a tube here and there, tweaked the settings and shot a little demo. Be gentle, I can't play for shit at 9:30 in the morning.

sick

is it nautrally that dark on the top end or is that the recording method?

i love the grind you have dialed in, much better sounding than i remember when i played a laney

Thanks bud. It's actually very bright on the top end but I've been able to subdue that. This amp is crazy hard to dial in. It has taken me months of tweaking, and I'm still working on it. It hates almost every boost pedal I have, the gain and top end can get VERY harsh at the wrong settings and the whole sound completely changes from cab to cab and tube to tube. JJ pre's have been a life saver with this amp. I also started using the low gain input for a smoother, less offensive attack. I think I'm getting closer to carving out a nice high gain tone. Patience is definitely needed with this amp, that's for sure.

That does have a nice grind. Straight in? Pickups?

I have a vh100r and it is an amazing amp secially going od into the clean..It is hard to dial in and very picky of speakers..

Beyond Black, this was boosted with a Dano V1 TOD and the pickups are EMGs.
The amp has enough gain on it's own to pull this off, but it can get noisy. The boost also adds some lowend and smooth the hair out a bit. Makes the gain tighter and more articulate.

Gitfiddler, settings were:
Resonance switch ON
Presence - 2
Bass - 7
Mids - 6
Treble - 2
Master V - 2-3
Gain - 4
Drive boost ON & @ 10
Low Gain input

thanks for the settings. i gave mine a spin with those settings. nice rock sound. i put an HBE paradrive in front of it and it sounds great.

thanks!

I used to own a VH100R. Laneys are rediculously underated amps. I probably will own another VH100R someday.

Sounds great D

With all of the Greenback talk lately I think I'll have to grab myself a nice Greenie cab in years to come. Maybe a Laney too!

Thanks Jake, this amp can be finicky but can really hold it's own when setup right. I've been hearing players lately saying they regret unloading their GH50's because they didn't give it a chance or were not as patient with tone as they are now.
One things for sure, this amp will cut your head clean off even at half volume. It has an insanely forceful crunch. Makes your teeth hurt.

Gitfiddler, keep in mind my settings were pretty specific to the Greenbacks and my guitar & pickups. I have to adjust the eq when I play it through V30's and GT75's. But I'm sure you get that.
I seem to like it through the GB loaded cab best. Sweet mids, nice highs and decent bass. Plus, running a 50 watter through a 100 watt cab is almost perfect for just the right amount of cone breakup. But, I also like it through my V30 2x12 too, so I go back and forth. ;)
