Magnum 44 or Crate power block?

Which one and why? Also keep in mind it's for home use not a band situation. I have a 400 watt cab I'm hoping I won't be under powering it with the Magnum. It's a stereo cab with 200 watts per side at 8 ohms and 16 watts mono.

I have a like new quilter micro block 45 I'd sell ya, if you were interested.
Literally powered it on twice. Just don't use it like I thought I would.
Powers all my cabs just fine. Louder than you'd think

I've had both, still have the Magnum and a Seymour Duncan PowerStage 170. I've used them with a Fractal AX8 and they all sound fine (assuming you use the RCA inputs on the Crate to bypass the always-on cab sim). The Magnum definitely has less headroom than the Crate and PowerStage, but it's plenty loud for home use. I'd personally recommend the PowerStage over the Magnum and Power Block. It has more EQ options and headroom than the Magnum and is smaller than the Power Block.

I had a 44 Magnum for a short time that I ran with a Mako Mak4 preamp. Sounded awesome, super small and light, gets a damn good amount of volume, and super easy to use.

I carry a Powerblock to gigs as a backup.
I've used it at rehearsals before with a pedalboard and it works well.

I'm trying to stay around the 150 range also and are you sure 44 watts won't under power a 400 watt cab I am going to look the isp and Duncan used also

I don't really know what you mean by under power...I ran mine through a 412 with k100s, and it sounded great to me.

Quilter > EHX > Crate

For home use any of them will be fine but I'd go for the quilter. Idk what you mean by under power either. The 44 mag can BARELY keep up with a drummer. It can, if he has great control or plays a softer genre but it's borderline with a loud drummer and no mic but again for home use they will all work fine.

The under powering thing is due to the wattage however I've done my research and it should be fine. Why the quilter over the EHX the Eq? Or is it better made or something?

Why is the quilter better then the ehx

Listen to the demos. The quilter just sounds better to me as a stand alone unit. That's the one I'm going with and I'll be using it as a clean platform. The gain on the quilter doesn't sound bad and to my ears sounds much better than the EHX.

I'll have to listen closer probably getting the quilter for sure.

More features, same price.

Listen to the Boynton Audio (I think that was the place) clip on you tube. Goes through the pedal gained up most of the demo but does some clean at the end. Both sound good to me and I could get by with just that in a pinch if I had to. That was the video that sealed it for me.

It depends on how you're going to use it. I tried a Quilter and it does sound better as a stand alone unit or as a pedal platform. But it wasn't ideal with a modeler. I was looking for something as transparent as possible, but even when using the FX loop return it really colored the tone. For me the Crate, PowerStage and Magnum were all much better with a modeler.

I'm looking more to do a pdeal platform and use preamps I don't like modelers too much I'm thinking the evh pedal or the be pedal.

Get the Quilter. The Volume, Gain and EQ Q knob make it more versatile.

Yup! Quilter is IMHO the best small form factor power period!
