I am not sure I can really hear much of a difference using earbuds. Both are very similar.

Yeah..RF has a bit more hair/fuzz. Sometimes recording direct using a boost can be detrimental, sometimes it works great. Depends.

Have to agree. RF has more hair and with this comparison I prefer the Koko. Some amps/guitars would benefit greatly from that added hair of the RF. In the end I would rather have the Koko regardless.

Nice comparison! I have the RF and love it, but in your demo I think I prefer the KoKo in this setup.

Yeah, Majik has more hair/fuzz :m17: , nice playin' and glad to hear the 80's style riffs!

Koko is a fantastic pedal. Wish he would make one with two mid boosts! I live there and love it for rythm wishing it could be kicked on for more when going lead.

I love my koko boost quite a bit. What i have been doing with it with my smallbox is i will max out the gain on the small box and run the koko boost at unity. It is essentially a very quiet easy to use eq pedal at that point. I could see how you would need some level with a plexi style amp though.

No doubt the Koko sounds a LOT better. Some great tone there. I love my Koko boost, so many applications for it...boost, tweakable mid boost, buffer(a very good one too), signal leveler between guitars.....Just one of those pedals that's a keeper for years to come. John knocked it out of the park with that pedal for sure! Not to mention the switching options are awesome and it's built like a tank. I will never get rid of mine!

you should really try a klon clone. I don't like it for super high gain but it does something very special with my small box plexi ch.

Nice comparo. I've had both and prefer the Koko as well.

Koko definitely sounds cleaner.
I had a Rocket Fuel a few years ago and didn't like the overdrive side of the pedal.
But the boost side on it's own was so nice that I ended up flipping the Rocket Fuel and replacing it with a Majik Box Venom Boost instead.

The overdrive side really does have that gritty Aldrich sound to it though.. I always found his tone razor sharp and crisp and this is what hear with the pedal. Great if you want to play Whitesnake but I prefer the cleaner pushed sounds.
