Makeshift Straplocks?

I'm looking to create some sort of straplock for my LP. The guy gave me a set of Dunlops when I bought the guitar, but I hate the way they look and I've read a decent amount of horror stories.

I suppose I could get some Schallers. I have them in my strat, but I worry about all that LP weight pulling directly on the button with the U shaped design (I know, I'm probably being a little ridiculous).

So, what can I use/make at home that will get the job done?

Grolsch Beer Gaskets over the strap button after you put on the strap.

At first I thought this was a joke, but after looking at them, they would probably be perfect

If you don't need to remove the strap, you could use washers.

I forgot I mention in the original post that I would like to be able to remove the strap

What's wrong with Dunlops? I've used them for years never had a problem

Nothing really, I've just heard some stories of them failing. Maybe those people didn't install them properly or something.

Did that for years.

It's definitely an easy way to get the job done. This is my plan if I can't get something else to work

I had a Red Stripe bottle cap on an old guitar for years. Installed on the spot in rehearsal with a drywall screw.

It works....been doing it for years on guitars. Gibson buttons get replaced with Schallers, though.

just go with the schallers. had em' on a few heavy LP's, 2 explorers, and every guitar i have owned. NEVER had an issue. the black set i have on my V now i have had for probably 10 yrs. the key is, not to use the screws that come with it. i usually get a drywall screw thats around 3/8" longer than the STOCK screw that was in the guitar. then grind down the head of the drywall screw so it will fit inside the schaller button. will still be plenty of grip left on the screw head to tourqe it down with. just enough deeper than stock to bite and never let go. but not too much that you should pre-drill it. works EVERY time. and only takes about 20 minutes for both if you have a dremmel.
