Mako - MAK 2 Vs. Splawn - Pro Mod!

I'm very interested in these two amps, please help me compare the two!

Which one better for da br00tz!

personally I'd go for a Mak2 Black, I prefer the Makoplex (black) tone to the Dorado (white), the Promod is killer too, I just prefer the Mako stuff.

Can you please clue me in on the key differences between the Makoplex (black) and the Dorado (white), and why you prefer the Makoplex (black)?

Haven't actually played the Dorado, but from clips and description its alot darker (modern) sounding, I prefer the mid grind and Marshally flavor of the plex. more of a thrash type tone, you should p.m. LDM, she has my old Makoplex and a Dorado Mak2, she can fill you in better than I.

i have a dorado. yes it is def a darker amp but you can def get the mids and highs to shine through. i love the amp. the only way i would sell it is if i was desperate for cash.

The Makoplex does the hot-rodded Marshall tone. It uses EL34's. Great sounding amp. My friend actually described it as a darker SLO. The Mak2 Dorado is more modern. It uses 6550's in the power section. It is a tight dry amp which you may love or hate IMO. Lot's of gain, more low end...Killer amp but probably not for everyone.

I really want a Promod or a Quickrod also. I love my Nitro. It too is kind of dry in comparison to say an Uber or my Rocca Ultra. I boost so that cures the issue for me with both the Nitro and the Mak2 Dorado.

Both builders are super cool too so you have a tough decision ahead of you. For "da brootz", I would probably go Mak2 Dorado over the Promod but again, either would do it well.
