Started reading the Kemper forum and now my head is full of crazy ideas. :scared:

I thought for sure you were going to say you heard "Come Over" by Kenny Chesney. Enough to ruin anyone's day.

The KPA has me intrigued to say the least!

"Comb Over"

I'm waiting for the next best thing to come out so everyone starts dumping theirs. RT has the best deals anywhere.
There was an Australian(I think)guy that was getting some of the best metal tones I've ever heard anywhere out of his, and giving away the profiles here awhile back. The 'Drag The Waters' Pantera profile was dead nuts on. The KPA is amazing from what I've heard, and I've got bros that own everything under the sun that can't shut up about theirs.

Pretty effin cool stuff that's for sure. But I wouldn't own one for the same reason I've stayed away from 7 and 8 string guitars.

Which is?

At 44 years old, I'm pretty old school. Have sat down and tried 7-strings many times over the years but could never get on-board. Fast-forward to this summer when I joined a new metal cover band that [of course] does a lot of drop tuning. I'd scraped-by in my last hardrock/metal band by using drop-D and drop-C#. But that wasn't gonna cut it in this band. In fact, we just learned two tunes in Bb. Anyways... my choice was either to go with a drop-tune pedal (heard mixed reviews on them), or pick up a seven string or baritone. I chose to give the seven an honest shot for a week and got comfortable very quick. Just took that commitment. So I bought it and now that we've dropped it half a step to Bb I'm even more comfortable, because my left hand doesn't hurt after playing it now.

Anyways... not trying to change your mind or anything. Was just curious as I used to feel the same way but am very happy that after 28 years of playing six strings exclusively, I've added something new to the arsenal. I'd even be tempted to try an eight string at some point, but I doubt that I'm gonna be able to get used to that huge plank of a neck, as my favorite necks have always been the skinny necks on my ESPs.

I think it's normal to veer off the sanity route and think crazy things. We're gear-heads, no one other than another gear-head would "get" us. You wanna go Kemper, than hell yeah, go go Kemper. You wanna go Axe, yes, do it. I think the FUNNY thing about gear-heads is that we tend to be extremists and absolutionists, it's ALL or NUTHIN'. If we "go Kemper", we gotta sell all out heads and the like, dump the axe-II, sell everything and dedicate ourselves to being professional Kemper users. If it's not that, it's the Axe-II, drink the Kool-Aid, sell everything for an FRFR system that always - no matter what anyone tells you - sounds like shit but you PRETEND it's perfect full range frequency response just like the imaginary FOH we have to consider - and then with that means we're hanging with a bunch of computer geeks-cum-musicians, rather than a bunch of valve-heads who love the smell of hot tubes and aged tolex.

I get it my friend. It's not at all the wrong way to start off the day... It's just the way us gear-heads happen to wake up.

Peace,

Addictive/extremist personality disorder. Often addicts replace addictions. My drug and alcohol went to gear and sex, ok, mainly gear occasionally sex...

Also put guns and limited rare coin collecting.

I may get a Kemper. After playing for about 2 hours today, I really feel uninspired. Need to call my guitar teacher and set up something for Saturday. I get more inspiration out of a new lesson and jam track to take home and work on. There are only so many amps, but there are millions of songs and new tricks out there.

You know what, that is a fantastic idea. I should setup some lessons locally and go from there. Thanks for that!

Lessons are more inspiring to me than any new gear acquisition has ever been.

Just sayin'... :dunno:
