Mark IV(a) in the house and soon to be in my new road case when it gets here from Rockhard Cases. Jeez, this thing has some balls. I don't know how Randall built these things to keep such fantastic articulation at high gain and volumes. Between the Mark IV and Mark III, my loins are quivering and I may have soiled myself.

Without a doubt, my new rig is going to be the Mark III and Mark IV in the road case through my Little Labs PCP where they are both always on. If Bradshaw ever gets my custom switcher finished, I will use it for amp duties and loop control. Flange and Delay pedals in the rack through the 4x4, but both run in front of both amps, a rackmounted dBx gate/compressor/limiter and tuner. If I need some boost solo sizzle, it will be with a Sansamp Tech21 GT in front of the Mark IV. The jury will be out on cabs, but it will be either 2 x Recto cabs or a Recto and a Diezel front loaded.

Damn, I am very happy with these "old timers". And, just to clarify, the Mark V don't have shit on the Mark III or Mark IV. But, it ain't for sale (yet) :D

Very cool Steve ..... :)

I was doing this thing with my GCX / GCP it was very cool that you may like it. I loop out the preamps .... using one at a time and run both poweramps or one at a time. This gives you all the different sounds to choose from.

I found 3 EQ shapes work very well for me .... classic V shape, classic V shape and pulling down the 750 and 2200 about the same amount. The last works great for lead sounds .....

80 ... around middle
240, 750, 6600 ..... bumped up.
Slide the 2200 up and down to find a lot of voices. I like it down a bit best.

Herbert and Bones going up for sale ?

Well, we tried to warn you....

Just get a damn C+ already, it is the king of the hill as far as the mark series goes. What the IV is to the V (alot better), the C+ is to the IV (again, alot better).

I have owned a IIC+, III and like my IV better. Just a matter of taste.

I could see that if comparing a 60w C+, or one needing a new cap job, to a (in better condition) 4 tube 85 w Mark IV. Otherwise my mind cannot comprehend such blasphemy :hys:

The one I owned was new. Similclass (sp ?) I bought in the early 80's .... I have never owned a used Mesa amp. Have played them all side by side many times.

There are things I like about the II better .... but over all like the IV better

No, nothing for sale. Hanging onto my Herbert and Bones. VH4, and Elmwood M90 might be history sson though.

Steve

Had to ask .... really like the Herbert myself and yet to see a Fortin.

Congratulations on the new amp! Anyone that tries a V and then plays a IV will realize that there is no comparison. I love the IV. Easily on of my all time favorite amps, no question. I will say that I love my IIC+ 100watts simul-class and has slightly nudged the IV at of the top spot for me. The only thing I like about the IV better is that it sounded a bit better at low volumes. The IIC+ with the volume is fantastic and needs a little more volume to hit the sweet spot.
