Cool tone. You should have done a blind test and ask everyone what they thought it was.

That was great, very tasty playing and you've got and know good tone in my estimation! How much volume to get that and what cab/speakers?

Thanks guys. Wasn't that loud. Just above string noise. The cab is a marshall 1960B and the speaker was an English greenback reissue but not the heritage version. Mic was a 57. I really love this amp. I've been having a blast trying to get my right hand, metal chops back jamming old Metallic and this amp just kills for that too. I've been attempting a Hit The Lights cover via backing track but I'm not quite there yet.

Graphic EQ on or off? Unlike most it seems I prefer it off on the III IV and V. Which power tubes do you prefer EL34/6L6?

I love clips like this. I get a much better sense of how an amp sounds. Great job brother!

Listened through my phones speakers, so can't comment on the audio quality, but I enjoyed your doodle, tasty playing!

This clip was with Mesa 34's. Everything they say about 6L6 vs. 34 in this amp is pretty accurate. With 34's you lose the bell like quality the cleans can have but for dirty rock sounds it sweetens the mids and top end and you lose a little bottom. If I was doing a rock gig like the clip I played I would use 34's. If I was doing a newer metal thing with cleans, 6L6's. I would also use 34's If I was doing more of an old school early 80's metal thing though. If I was doing a rock thing based more on the Tweed setting and or running the cleans into overdrive I would use 6L6's. Ch 3 gets a little more ragged and raw with 34's and more controlled with 6L6's. I like raw and a little ragged. The Edge mode can be tough to dial in for the treble to balance out across all the strings (low strings get the right cut and snap but high strings can be thin and spiky) so I find El34's really help this as they soften up the highs a little.

I use the graphic only for the MK1 setting on this channel and of course for channel 3 which is mandatory. On crunch I've been experimenting with using the contour knob a little as it can be a little "boxy" with a GIbson. It sounds great with the mids scooped a little from the contour. What I like about this amp is it's very intuitive on how to dial it in and it never takes me long to get a setting where I want it.
