I'm getting a lot of hum when my loop is engaged. Is there something I can do to reduce it? Dave?

My guess is you are using the same power supply for effects in before and after the amp? You need to isolate them, otherwise you get a ground loop.

I just tried a couple of things. I looped a patch lead in the send/return, no hum. I put a looper in the loop (no power), noise?

Well first off what are you putting in the loop? and what is your amp? and does it have a return level?

I'm using a T Rex REplica delay pedal, EHX Nanoverb and a Sonic research tuner, powered by a T Rex "Fuel Tank". It's a Marsha with a return level.
I have since remembered you saying to turn the masters to noon and adjust the return level from there. I'll try that next rehersal. I'm going to bring all of my gear home and go through it. Last rehersal the hum was so loud that I had to keep switching to the clean channel to keep the noise down. I've been using this pedalboard in my XTC with no noise problems.

Have you tried only using one pedal and powering it with a battery?

I used to have the Fuel Tank and had noise issues with powering FX in front of the amp and the loop, as the FuelTank power outlets aren't isolated. If your tuner is before the amp and it is powered by the same Fuel Tank this is likely the reason for your issue.

Another possibility would be that you have a ground loop from your looper.

Could you list/show your whole rig, how it's wired up and which elements get power from where etc. Rack? Pedalboard? I think the more info you give, the easier it will be for the boss (Friedman) to diagnose the issue. ;)

If the loop is quiet with the cable in it then it is not the loop. Something else is causing the problem.

I'll get my rig together and try to pinpoint the offender. I've used this pedalboard with a SLO, XTC and 5153 with no noise issues. I'll be back.

I found the problem. I disconnected the power from my wah which was going into the front of the amp. I figure I need to isolate the power to it or use a battery.

Glad you found the noiser.

Do it like me, dump the FuelTank and just get a Voodoolab PP2 - problems will all be in the past and your rig will sound better, too
