I found an early 80s Marshall 1982a cab locally that's loaded with G12-80s. It's beat to hell and I'm trying to find out what a fair price on it is. Anybody have any idea what they're worth? Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is these aren't all that valuable or collectible.

Not worth alot, but if can get it for under 400 it will kill most newer marshall cabs.

Ask if you can buy just the speakers. Thats what happened with both quads I bought. Otherwise $ 400 max. Old 65s are much more collectible, though they peaked 3 or 4 years ago.

BTW one more single 8 ohm G12-80 is on the way to you. Last one, I promise ! This completes my quad of 8 ohmers, to be used in a Mills later on. Or, if you pick up the ones you just found, we can start a G12-80 museum

i had one with original 65's and sold it for $460 shipped here on the forum about a year ago or so.

i was being generous on the price, the guy that sold it had no clue what he owned. but i would say that $530 shipped was more reasonable for mine.

i would think if you can snag it for around $360 or less i would do it.

What is the difference between a 1982A and a 1960A other than speakers?

All I wanted was the speakers. The guy had it posted for trade on a local forum and it turns out he wants $650 for the cab. I wouldn't have even bothered talking to him if I knew he wanted that much for the cab. Makes me appreciate rig-talk requiring a price in the classifieds. I gather he thinks an early 80s Marshall is vintage and collectible. Back to the hunt.

I just got outbid on a pair of 8ohmers on Ebay. That wasn't you was it?

I just won a single one on Ebay, so if there was another auction for a pair, it wasn't me.

Go for it. A lot of people love the CL80's. Just make sure they are actually loaded in the cabinet. ...bring a cordless drill.

We're not talking about CL80s !

There was an auction for a pair of 8ohm ones as well. It's a good thing you didn't outbid me on them since you'd probably have them shipped to my house anyway. You may have just ended up with a check for the purchase price.
