I have wanted a plexi for the longest time, and I have promised my self a new amp at the end of this year (I cant until then as moving country later this year)..

So this looks perfect for me, but I want to know about the effects loop, how it will react to a boost etc..
What speakers do you recommend (I am thinking Marshall 1960TV with Greenbacks).
I am looking at heaviest boosted to get it into green day kind of sound (I don't play green day but its a great tone he has).

Anything else I need to know?

Thanks

The loops are not very good in them imo, the guys at metro have some good designs that are better if you get an older one without the loop.

To get GD tones you would be shaking your room unless you were going for clean amp and using a distortion pedal, mv mod would make it way more flexible.

Great amp but you would have to drive it to Police Helicopter Loud, which it will do don't ask me how I know, to get those sort of tones. Or you could put in a LaMarr PPIMV and tame the volume quite a bit.

I will add this will be in Japan so Modding will be hard, I don't trust myself and I have no idea where to find a good tech, but like anything I am sure it is possible.

Plus I will more than likely buy new as its hard to find amps like this second hand and try them out.

I will use an alternator (its a Marshall). And will not be playing it in an apartment (I don't want to die). But I will go to a studio and crank until I can get in a live band, plus I have some friends I will be Jamming with there.

The loop is not super important but I like to have that option for Delay's ect, but I don't mind running them out front if it sounds better.

Are you still in the UK?

Find one and have MrDann666 do the work

I am but the 240V to 100v power thing is a big spanner in the works, I am better of buying on Japan... plus the cost of sending it over, as we are pretty much starting afresh.

Apart form that I would love too :D

PPIMV is really easy to install, would take you less than an hour to do the work and that's including removing the amp from the chassis.

I have modded enough guitars but when It comes to voltage that can kill me, I get a little scared :scared:

I would feel safer with a good tech :D But I will look into it, thanks.

Ceriatone makes really good plexi clones as well. Nik has some PPIMV mods for them. I believe they are made in Malaysia so I think he could take care of the voltage problem...

A good option indeed.

I don't want a Ceriatone to be honest as there is not a great Difference in price and to be honest the re sale value in Japan would not be so good.

Also I its kind of shallow but I want the Marshall, its what I have wanted since I heard AC/DC at 6 years old.

But I will look at the Ceriatone as an option, just low down in my List to honest I might as well use my Axe-Fx or a get a another DSL as they are as cheap as chips. Ie tell me about the 1987x ;)

I don't mean to sound mean, but I just want to know about this head for now.

The 1987x is a great amp. It's a NMV so its gotta be loud as fuck to get that AC/DC dirt. But you can use any OD pedal or get a PPIMV.

Granted, the ones that I have played were Voodoo Modded Jose HG 1987x's, but it still has that great core plexi tone. But the loop is teh sukzorz.... but voodoo fixed that too haha.

You might want to just by one cheap and have it sent to trace @ Voodoo Amps and have him install the PPIMV and a better FX-loop.

$125 for ppimv and 100 for the loop

http://www.voodooamps.com/home/

shipping might hurt you tho...

Even if you don't get it modded it's still a great plexi. Just find an OD pedal you like and rock the fuck out Neil
