Are the Marshall 4010 combos (vertical inputs, 1x12) any good? Can you also get clean to mean out of them?

Anyone?

Is this the same as a 2204?

If the combo has vertical inputs, is it the same as a vertical input 2204?

Will it have a choke? (communication with the seller is a bit difficult as he doesn't speak much English, so I guess I'll have to drive there to see).

The other guitarist in my band has used one of these thru a 4x12 cab as his main crunch rhythm sound for like 20 years now! Its a great basic Marshall crunch tone. Its not a metal machine by any stretch, just not enough gain for really heavy stuff or lead work without a pedal. The clean is good if you like to work your volume know you can easily go from clean to crunch. Honestly , he uses a JC120 for all his cleans, so I dont hear the cleans of this amp too often, but ive played thru it before and it was decent cleans. I believe it is the same as a 2204, just in a combo. Id recommend it highly if you got a good enough deal on one. No effects loop either......hope this helps somewhat? Steve ;)

I used to own one and loved it! Rick Erickson (Seattle area amp tech) modded the low gain front end to a most convincing plexi voicing, the high gain side was left stock. It was a great rock amp!
