Hey guys just seeing if anyone out there has tried to match Ev12Ls with Creambacks in a X pattern, in a 4x12 Marshall B cab. I have a few cabs loaded with just Ev12Ls and that's been my standard for a number of years. I'm running either a Splawn quickrod or a Friedman modified Marshall super lead, I really like the sound I'm getting right now but have been seriously considering getting a few creambacks to put in the mix, kinda of a super clean low end feel with some vintage vibe.
If anyone has some experience with this combination, please feel free to share. Any input would be appreciated.

If I were you I'd try that with the EVs on the bottom and cream backs on top. If you X pattern I'd think the EVs would overpower the creams.

So kinda get the low end on the bottom and the higher creamback sound on the top? That might actually be a good idea. Thanks!

I'm just thinking more of the efficiency of each speaker. Kinda like Friedman does with his cabs...GBs on top, V30s on bottom...that way you hear a good mix of the speakers. The V30 is more efficient than the GB, so if you X patterned them you'd hear mostly V30s. Same with EVs I think. Had a Mesa halfback 4x12, Mesa put EVs on the bottom and C90s on top for that same reason. Sounded good....

And I'm guessing i can wire them all in parallel?

If they are all the same ohm rating yes.

Yes they are all for 8 ohm.
Man I'm so excited for this new setu, as I feel this would be an awesome combination.
I'll start hunting for some crecreambacks and will report back here to let you know what it sounds like.
I really appreciate the help man!

Sure! Its all about experimentation with speakers...I've found as others have that certain amps go well with certain speakers. EV's seem to be great with everything so I think it'll sound good. That Mesa cab sounded killer with the 2 EVs.

No, your 8 ohm speakers, all wired in parallel in a 4x12 will result in a 2 ohm load. Unsafe ! You must wire them series/parallel or parallel/series, both of which will give an 8 ohm load. The wiring diagrams are easy to find on Google. Scumback speakers has some good easy to read ones.

Wow good to know, Im not very knowledgeable when it comes to load matching. I will keep that in mind when wireing up the cab, thanks man!

Damn! Sorry. Thanks for correcting me! I usually just rewire cabs the way they are originally wired. Ugh.
