I'm told from the folks at Guitar Center that the 4 speakers in this cab are Greenbacks. Does $1,299.99 USD sound like a reasonable price for this era cab? I think the max I'd be willing to pay for any cab is $800, although it sounds great with my '78 Marshall JMP 2203 MV.

***Photos are on post #5***

If the cones are correct Id say yes good price. The T1511's are bass cones and sound amazing

There is a 1972 beat to all hell Marshall cab with Greenie's at the GC by me with a price of about $2,200 on it. I would rather have the 69' at $1,000 less.

Those speakers should have 102 014 cone #'s on them if they're original. If they don't that cab isn't worth that much. The T1511 speakers aren't as highly prized as the T1221 75 hz cones, but they still sound great if you like a deeper tone to your Greenback sound.

Here's a Greenback ID thread I started on the TGP in 2005 that has pics/descriptions.

Here's what you're looking for on the cones to verify they're original. They should have these #'s in white ink high up underneath the frame behind the wire speaker tab. You'll want a compact mirror to hold down there to get the angle, and probably a flashlight. This link below has the pics of the many variations of the 102 14 cone. Good luck.

Thanks folks.

I just know it sounded wonderful on my JMP as I jammed on it for 3 hours straight, the longest I've ever spent at Guitar Center! :D I'll try to convince the guys there to let me open up the cab & verify if the cones are original by looking out for the '102 014' stamp.

Anyway, we're talking about Guitar Center, a retail store, so with 7% tax the total would come to about $1,390.99 USD. :(

If you got the cash and the speakers can be verified. It's demand and rarity is worth it imo.

Just got the cab: $1,390.99 USD (ouch, looks like I'll be sitting on that Ramen Noodle mealplan for a while).

I was in fact able to verify the speakers had the '102 014' stamp on 'em, so all is good. Now allow me to avoid the Buy/Sell forum section, eBay, & Craigslist for a while so I won't break the bank any further. :D

Congrats! I bet it sounds AWESOME! those pre-rolas are my fave speakers ever. 69 marshall cabs should sound AMAZING.
Decent price aswell for a quartet probably matching of G12M 75's.
Can you see if the speakers has been removed ever?

Keenay, you can always drop it off at my house if you want your money back ;)

Nice score.
