I friend of my mine was tellin me how awesome his amp was. Ive never heard of a 6100. I saw on Harmony Central it got a 9.6. anyone have one? Whats it like?

The 6100 is the 30th anniversary marshall. There are a bunch of different flavors, between the limited edition versions, the black and blue tolexed versions, LM and non-LM mod versions, and 5881 versus EL34 versions.

I had a 6101LE with the LM mod (done later). Mine was the combo, which ran very hot. I really liked the clean channel and Channel 2A and 2B, but didn't really care for Channel 2C or Channel 3 (lead). I also witched the A, B, and C modes were footswitchable.

I have the Blue EL34 version and like the amp.

Here are some clips, done w/ a cheap Strat, w/ a single Duncan JB.

I had the 6100LM with 5881 tubes and I really appreciated it - a really versatile amp with a lot of different Marshall-tones and good features as midi, power reduction two loops. And it always worked, it never let me down for over 15 years. But it had to leave for the Schmidt.

Here's a clip a friend of mine made with this Amp and a ESP Eclipse Archtop:
