Please have a look here at this video at 1:40min and 1:52min.

Can you tell me which 2 Marshall heads we see here?
Is this a 2203 and the other one a 2205? Both heads are on as i can see. Which one does he play? Is the other one a backup or does he slave one into the other? Or is 1 head rhythm the second for solo?

Here is another good one with 10min solo, sound quality is not good, but he plays crazy good.

Thanks, that second vid was epic! I really like how Vinnie didn't turn into a burned out wash up, just gained a little weight. He's actually grown immensely as a player & brings it every time. Not sure about the exact amp models, but it sure sounds like jcm800.

Before clicking on the video I had the feeling that it was going to be a UFO video. Their Showtime video and cd are excellent. He kills it on the extended Rock Bottom and on Love to Love. Those Marshall's are just rented back line, but I know that he boosts. I can't remember if it's the BB+ or not, but essentially he dials in an AC/DC tone and boosts it. He uses the volume knob on the guitar for cleaning things up. He has a nice Youtube video where he shows his Engl settings and the boosts.

He is such a great player though, so he would sound good through just about any settings.

one's a horizontal input jcm800

the other could be a 2205/2210 , or possibly jcm2000 dsl, the channel lights making me think..

Pretty sure his weapon of choice is still the DSL JCM2000 line despite the ENGL endorsement.. he was rocking those on the first live DVD they released with him in the line up and his tone and playing is just fantastic. I had the feeling it might be the first OD channel unboosted for rythms and that he might kick in an OD for leads. That guy is awesome. Nice down to earth guy as well. Used to answer questions directly on his forum with detail rather than yes or no.

Which forum do you mean? Does he have his own forum? Than i could ask him about his equipment there.

As of January 2014, he has been working on a new album and apparently his old JMP boosted is what he is using as it was better than any other amp he's been playing on. SCroll down to see here, might be more pics of gear but you have to search...http://www.beatsworking.tv/UFO/vinnie.html. If you scroll through the images, you'll see JCM2000's on stage for the last 2 years or so and I know they were used well before that as well.

great guitarist... I remember when time oddesey came out.. I still have the tabs

NICE!
Great guitar playing.
Sounds like he's keeping up his chops and getting better and better.

I still prefer Schenker's phrasing though.
VM adds his own touch and flavor, which is cool.

Vinnie still playing like God. One of my top 3 guitar heroes of all times!

It's funny because while many people on this forum will make excuses for guys who have obviously lost a step, there are an equal amount of guys like Vinnie and Schenker who can still play just as good or better 20 years after their "prime". That's why i think it is ok to be tough on these guys where expectations are concerned. Unless it is a physical issue, there is no reason why someone should suck now.

My guess is a vertical input 2203/2204 and a JCM 2000 DSL. The 2205/2210 has no green light. And Vinnie has been using the JCM 2000 DSL.

I agree about older guys needing to keep up and look at Al Di Meola or Scott Henderson at 63 and what to say about John McLaughlin at 75 who is just burning still?

Vinnie is a beast and super underrated. He has great chops but what sets him apart is that he has the feel, the legato smoothness, the bending of a guy who listened to a lot of Jeff Beck and the blues and the ability to make his phrases fit with almost a sense of swing when wants.

He's on the road currently with UFO and I have seen the band several times with him...always awesome.

I love Schenker too but this is the best thing that could have happened to UFO and Vinnie probably.

Vinnie is Great guitarist (and great tone here) but it is sacrilege to be the guitar player in UFO and not be playing the Schenker solos mostly note for note

I know Vinnie has way more chops than Schenker but all those solos are so classic
Kind of like taking a Picasso and adding a whole bunch on unnecessary brush strokes all over the top of it

I've been listening to Vinnie since Time Odyssey. He's my favorite player. I don't know which Marshall that is, but it looks modded. Very hard to tell because there's no clarity in that video. One looks like a Plexi and the other a modded JCM800, the old style because it looks to have one input and what appears to be an added knob or something.

Several years ago, I used to be a member of the Vinnie Moore forum, and Vinnie has answered a few of my questions. I don't think he's been too discriminate about his amps over the years, but he does seem to revolve mostly around his Engls these days. He's recorded several albums with them. The thing about Vinnie is that he has such a distinctive style that he'd sound the same through any amp. He told me once that he recorded a part of Time Odyssey with a Peavy Rage I think. Man, Vinnie cannot be beat. I wish he would have done a G3 tour with Satch and Vai.

I saw Vinnie last night with UFO and he was simply awesome live. He was playing his Marshalls and sounded smooth and effortless as always.
