I am sorry in advanced if this has been discussed already.

What is the consensus on the Marshall Class 5 heads? They seem to be nice amps but wanted to get some opinions. Do they sound alot better with a 4x12 cabinet compared to the 1x10 cabinet ( which isw what I would expect) , or does the amp fall apart tone wise with a big cab?

I don't have the head, I have the original combo and play it almost all the time through a seperate cabinet (2x12s). Sounds great with my Mesa recto 2x12 and my homebrew 2x12 with Webers. I would think it would sound great witha 4x12 as well. You could really crank it when going into a bigger cab.

The class 5 sounds best/most like a Marshall running full tilt. dime the amp and use guitar volume to control gain.

I have been interested in the Marshall class5 for a while, but never pulled the trigger. I wish marshall would have put a switchable master volume that you can switch in and out of the circuit.

I think the head is the way to go. The Combos are know for having rattling issues.
