Thats been shelved for years.
My guess is the money for Doug wasn't right.
Someone sold the Marshall prototype for that amp last year or 2019 on Reverb or Ebay and it didn't sell for very much.

I remember seeing that. What could have been along with a EVH signature amp. I was talking with John Suhr and it sounds like he was the one who modded Doug’s amp not Cameron.

Cameron’s money wasn’t right, Marshall’s money wasn’t right, ENGL had a signature for him and money wasn’t enough…

Really?! ENGL, I’ve never heard that one. So it was a money thing that was an issue. I would have thought just having your name on something like a ripping Marshall would be cool.

His amps had the Suhr SE+ mod.

Suhr SE100.

Matt
I never knew till recently talking with Suhr about an amp build. Sounds like Reb Beach uses similar mod with a slight difference. I always thought Cameron did Doug’s amps.

Yes you can search up pictures of Engl amps with Doug’s name. The artist edition was supposed to be his signature.

Its usually always a money thing with endorsements and thats fine. Like NHL/NFL/MLB players they won't be around forever, gotta get it while you can.
Steve Morse is a good guy, endorsed the 5150 years ago and has his own ENGL amp which is decent.
Some people aren't money hungry.
Aldrich : amazing talent/blazing pentatonic skills but ive never wanted his gear.

Cameron modded 2 amps for John Norum; one for him and one for his wife (RIP). So the Aldrich mod really should have been the Norum mod. Aldrich used a Cameron modded (Norum mod) Marshall for a while in the late 90s/early 2000s, so that mod turned into the Aldrich by name. In his giant racks he had a Cameron Standel amp as well. But at some point he stopped using the Camerons and Suhr modded a few of his Marshalls with his take on the Aldrich/Norum mod.
That's how I remember it anyway.

AFAIK he has sort of a signature amp made by Frog atm.

Same goes for Rob Marcello FYI

why is that amp called frog but i see no frogs in site?? ?

Exactly this.

Yeah Aldrich is a damn good player but gat damn he ain't no Vai or Petrucci to demand stupid amounts of money.
Yeah man, Lion was never a household name and he’s the 12th guy in Whitesnake.
I LOVE Doug’s playing but man, better to get some name association and a few nickels that to hold out for big boy money.

Is there really a market for a Doug Aldrich signature anything? I get a Slash signature, I get EVH, I get SRV, Jimi etc. generally speaking a huge amount of people know who those guys are the company wouldn't limited to guitar players in merchandising. But what market really exists for Doug Aldrich signature gear?

Happy for the dude that he gets this kind of interest from companies, but I don't understand why the companies are interested. Not meant as a knock, just a question... Full disclosure I have some other peoples signature gear in my collection that someone else could easily ask the same question about, if the same product was offered without the signature I would have bought them.
