Wow! If this thing sounds anything like it looks, it must be killer. I can't imagine (me) ever needing this kind of power, unless I needed to remove a wall or have a chemical free pest control solution, etc. :) I have absolutely no need for this, but I want one, just in case :loco: Besides it should sound (and look great) with the JMP-1 on its way to me.

Anyone have or had one of these? It must be brutal, in a vintage Marshall kind of way (not a new metal high gain way). How's the tone? (can you even tell past noon?)

Never have, but I can imagine it would blow your hair back. Power amps though, don't traditionally alter tone too much. You will get that from the JMP1 preamp. Have often thought of getting one myself too. Will make for one heavy ass rack case. Let us know about the preamp when you get it. The Marshall power amp seems the logical choice to mate up with it.

Incredible power amp, I've had two of them, and if I ever do the rack thing again, that's the power amp I'll be buying.

That's what I thought about power amps, and how my SS rack power amps worked (e.g., my old ADA rig, the preamp for all tone shaping) but this being Marshall, and loaded with valves (8 EL34s, and ECC81/ECC83's) I thought it would give it a noticeable Marshall tone.

Edit: will do on the JMP-1 though it isn't going into anything like this! But, hmmm, makes me think of new possibilities, this amp, then I'd need at least 2 4x12 Marshall cabs, and a new home, selling gear to pay the divorce attorney    :aww:

I have one and it sounds great. The A/B voicing switch give a vintage/Modern tone to it. In the modern setting the bottom end thump is awesome. I can make the whole house shake with ease.

Here it is in action...full of clams...

I am using a Mark IV for the tone and slaving out into the Marshall. I have six 4x12's working. The tone was godly. FWIW, the guitar is loaded with an 8k PAF clone, which is where all of the bright tone is coming from.

6 x 4x12. :D just reading that is
That must have been shattering in person!

Very cool!

Yes, if I go back to full amp rig (using rack units into a Bose L1 now, as my downsized no-amp stacks solution) this would be at the top of my list too. So, Marshall makes these killer power amp units, yet no preamps to mate with them.

Anyone know if they are planning a new preamp?

I have no desire to drag more gear to shows as is but I have made the mistake of trying my xtc/g-system rig stereo. Not surprisingly it was awesome. Some day I'll go w/d/w like the serious gear whores on here :D
