Marshall Rack mount Power Amps

Does Marshall still make the EL34-50 and EL34-100 rack mount power amps? Can't seem to locate one...

I believe they do. I have an EL34 100/100 power amp. I got it new about 4 years ago and it cost me an are and a leg, $1,800. Sounds killer. Too bad I dont use it much anymore. Heck, It still has the original tubes...

Well...sell him the damn thing!!! lol!!

I have had a 9200 (the 6L6 version of the 100/100) since 1997. I love that amp. I have had other tube power amps over the years but have always kept the Marshall. It sounds awesome and the true dual monobloc design rules. Not very many power amps out there actually use that design.

There was a 9200 in the classifieds here for a long time...I think it was Mudder's...he was selling it for around $600, a total steal. It never sold as far as I know, I couldn't believe it.

i've ran a 5881 version of the 9200 just a little with an Axe FX, and it wasn't so great! my 9200 is a pretty bright power amp, and was just over the top with the Axe FX.


i think the Axe FX could be tweaked to sound great with the 9200, but the 9200 was night and day deferent from the Axe with an SS amp, or even the Axe with a Mesa Strategy.


the 9200 is however way cool as a slave amp, using the Suhr line out box.

Here is a clip of me going into my MArk IV and slaving out into the Marshall 100/100 power amp. I have no f'ing idea what the hell I was playing and there are clams galore... tone was cool though. I was running SIX 4x12 cabinets.

triaxis + marshall 9100 = one of the best sounding rigs I've ever owned. I really made a lot of good music with that setup.

don't let people convince you, you have to use a mesa power amp with a triaxis.

I have owned both (9200 and 2:90) and they sound pretty different even though they run 6L6s. In he end, I kept the Marshall because the 2:90s tube sockets came loose from the board. I have fixed a couple of them for that reason.
