Anybody got an inside scoop on Marshall's latest attemp to capture Slash's Appetite tone?
marshall-afd100-videos/">http://www.gear-vault.com/slash-marshall-afd100-videos/</a>

i still dont get what the BFD was, that sound on that cd was weak and didn't have any balls! no sustain! the jubilee blew that sound away. now beacause he's famous he gets another shot. i call b.s

It really does't matter, what ever Marshall puts out these days pretty much sounds like shit anyways.

Afd was a cool album, but I just got sick of it. I was never a fan of Slash or his sound. He does not have a bad sound, but it is nothing special. There are many more guitar players out there that got some serious tone. I have heard a few RG members here that have a more impressive tone going. Did anybody see the guitar duo on the George Lopez show. Slash vs. George Lopez's bands guitarist?

i totally agree with mark, i heard better guitar sounds here, with everybodys tastes for different gain tones, they BLOW AFD aound away.
and i have always loved marshall. i blame it on judas priest live in tennessee 1982 concert and the live killers concert with maiden fronted by di'anno. that made me want a marshall. and i scored a sweet dsl 100 that sounds great, and my first marshall was that 30 watt head . the model escapes me right now.

I dont know about you guys but I'd rather them build a criss olivia marshall.

JFD100  The #39 amp that the amp he used for AFD was copied from is the same thing Lynch used for early Dokken stuff.

AFD..great songs, great energy, great vibe, shitty guitar tone, except for his neck solo tone and some of the other leads. It's not a sound I would be seeking personally.

Nice sounding amp Jerry.

No doubt Slash can play, but when it comes to his amps, he sounds like a total nOOb.

obviously marshall just copied the caswell schematic from metroamp forum

I thought they were the same amp?

I guess you mean a clean amp with two built-in boss overdrive pedals?
cause that would be a JCM 900

Man!!! Marshall is almost getting as bad as Gibson with these bullshit claims of getting a famouse tone. I guess they do whatever it takes to sell somthing.

I hope behringer launches the bugera 'yakisoba incident' model for 1/5

They're seriously dropping the ball here. When are we going to get a hot rodded Marshall? I'm not talking a JVM either. Something that sounds like Fortin or Friedman's mods! (yes, I'm aware they were in talks with Mike Fortin and it didn't pan out, but they should continue this pursuit).

Marshall is copying #34 which was modded by Levy with no added tube, not #39 modded by Caswell. The info on Metro is not 100% correct for the Caswell mod, pretty close though.

the only wrong thing about the JVM is the excessive saturation in most of the gain stages
that's what takes the tone away
regular 100k plate resistors for each stage and some minor fixes on the gain pot sections would make it a true toneful amp
the JVM project is amazing, but they fucked everything up with that ridiculous amount of saturation
gain pot on 3 is already like an ENGL or Peavey XXX
reducing gain would improve clarity, dynamics, put in some detailed midrange grain, reduce a lot of the fizz...
the vintage modern and JCM2000's could sound much better with less gain as well
it's not like they need to hire an amp genius or something
they just need some minimum common sense

I'm a huge Slash fanboy but that is kinda lame.
I've owned a couple Caswell modded Marshalls and in the end my Fortin can nail the AFD tone and much much more.
There is no point to these amps with Fortin, FJA, Voodoo (etc) around.
Marshall should just make a proper JCM800 or bring back the Jubilee instead of wasting time with that AFD100.

34..........................39................whatever.

Guy got lucky and had the next Clearchannel cash cow use his "mod"

Fuck him
