Got my first chance to plug into the new Marshall SL5 combo. I was pretty impressed with the tone coming out of this 5 watter. Liked that it had a 1 watt switch as well. Would have loved to have seen an effects loop on this as well. Has anyone had a chance to compare this amp with the 5 watt Blackstar HT-5 combo? Looking for something like either of these for a living room amp. Any comments or suggestions apprecicated?

I've had both of them. There are some that like the Blackstar HT5, I really could not get along with it at all. I couldn't wait till the guy came to pick it up. I hadn't picked up a combo for a couple of years as I heard a rumour that Marshall was doing this combo, so I picked up a used Class5 for dirt cheap to hold me over.

The SL-5, I absolutely love. It sounds great, has some half-decent quality components in it and works great for me when I don't want to take my Satch head around to a gig. I'm not happy about it being built where it is...but there isn't much I can do about that.

I've run this through my 2x12 and through my Torpedo Live and it sounds great.

Very happy with it. I like the fact that it is a closed back cab as well. It's more of a quick grab and go combo for me and for when I want to practice at home through the speaker but not shake the house too much.
