What's the consensus on these?

seems like a good deal...i'm in the market for a 1 space power amp (MAYBE A 2 space if the price is right)

and before anyone comes in talking about if it sounds like a tube amp or not: i don't really care if it does, i just want to know about it's performance and if it's loud enough on it's own to play in a fairly loud band.

THANKS!

There are other power amps to take into consideration before the 8008. Carvin, Mosvalve (Tubeworks) for example. I had the 8008 and the Mosvalve, Mosvalve hands down for me. Never had a Carvin but I hear a lot of great stuff about them.

they are a great 1 space power amp. they are way loud. pm me if you need one i have a extra one

I've had one for about 5 years, but have only used it to push my Keys, So I didn't need that Tube Sound!!
But ever curious, I have pondered hooking my Boss M30 into a stereo BBE rack unit, then the Marshall 8008, then into an older Crate for 12 that is loaded with 2 8 ohm Black Widows and 2 8 ohm, Sheffield wired in stereo, 16 ohm on a side! Then using My VOCE Spin, Leslie Simulator.
Another thought would be to run Fender Red Knob the Twin line out to the one channel on the BBE then on to the 8008, then fed to my Fender 4-12 Tone Master, And My Laney VC50 line out to the other side to feed my Laney 412, once again using the VOCE Spin in the 8008 chain.
Yeah a tube unit would be nice, But I got the 8008 thrown in on a trade and I mostly use this on my Keys.
I'd imagine this would make a great linear monitor amp for the home studio too!

Nothing wrong with them. Some of them lit on fire, but chances are that all of the units on the used market at this point have passed the "burn in" stage......

In all seriousness, back in the early 90s, I used one for about a year with a JMP-1. Sounded pretty good. Plenty loud.

I use mine for my wet signal
Plenty fine for that application

I have one, surprisingly loud, sounds good. I use it as a power amp for a Univalve and (occasionally) for a loaded-down Dual Recto.

I have one I use with my GSP1101, gig with it pretty much every weekend and it's great - very loud! The "valve emulation" switch on it doesn't really seem to do that much, so don't buy one on that feature alone, but I would definitely recommend!
