I've modded a Marshall Vintage modern.

Here it is before the modification.

I took out the preamp board to get better access to it.

Here it is after the modification:

These parts were taken out to give room for a new preamp design and some other circuits.

The whole preamp circuit is redesigned to get a dynamic and versatile distortion with a lot of attack and punch. When the mid boost is activated it really gives a punch in the right frequencies after this modification. The footswichable "dynamic range" kicks in another tube stage which gives you enormous amounts of gain but it still cleans up beautiful when you roll back the volume on the guitar. There are some changes done to the power amp and power supply as well to reach this sound.

Here’s a playthrough of it:

Here’s a clip where I have the “dynamic range” set to high and the mid boost is activated.
Just changing pickups and volume on the guitar to reach different sounds.

Guitar: Greco EGF1000, straight into the amp.
Seymour Duncan JB in bridge and Seymour Duncan 59 in neck position.
TC G-major II in the loop for some delays.
Cab: Malmberg 4×12 with old Greenbacks.
Mics: Golden Age R1 mkIII, Tascam DR-40

You will find this amp under Member Classifieds if you want to crank it up yourself :D

when are you releasing your production amp? these amps you make KILL!!! I sure would love to get my hands on one of your modded PA's!!

Awesome work as usual really looking forward to see your production amp also .

Thank you guys! I'm working with the layout for the production amp. I want every detail to be perfect so it takes a lot of time, sorry to keep you guys waiting, but I don't want to cut any corners. I will of course let you know when I have the prototype up and running.
