Its so "extensively used" that ive never even seen nor heard JN or MJ with it in 40 years.
Only $21K i'll take 2.
Yeah, I don’t consider myself a no it all when it comes to Norum, but I was a pretty big Jabs fanboi in my day, and I don’t recall him talking about Hiwatt at all? I even remember him using Kittyhawk amps or a preamp in the 90’s. I know he played Marshall’s and a SLO for many years.

To my knowledge Jabs used NMV Marshalls, and then used (like Norum) the 2210/2205s in the mid 80s. HiWatts are killer amps but every time I've seen the Scorps it was Marshall Marshall Marshall. Lol

Big story....
Hold on your ass. Haha
I owned one of Mathias gibsons white black stripe explorers. Back when I was collecting guitars. Think 97?
I came across a ebay auction. Old beat to shit explorer. I knew what it was immediately!!!
I bought it. $425 bucks!!
When it came in. I contacted Gibson. They confirmed it was made for Mathias. It was heavily played. Haha
Like a fucking idiot. I sold it.
But was heavily into buying / flipping rock star guitars that time.

From a Vintage Guitar article I just found…..

Let’s talk about a couple of things on the new album. The opening chord on the opening track, “Mysterious,” gets your attention. What was your rig on that?
Believe it or not, that’s the old Candy Apple Red Telecaster.

That was the first song we recorded for the album. In the verse, that’s the “Jabocaster,” which is a name Fender came up with for my signature guitar. I think I used an old ’60s Hiwatt amp in connection with a Soldano amp. I also used Fender Pro-Sonics on the album.

Holy shit Batman! What a deal. I’d love to own that. Not a huge Explorer guy, but I always thought the white with the black stripes was cool.

Me neither. This wouldn't be in eithers' wheelhouse, but who knows. Norum used 2205's/2210's, José modded Marshall's, and 2555's. Jabs I thought also used a 2210, Soldano, and later Engl and Wizard. Unless that thing had more major gain mods, I don't see it getting "extensive" play time for either. I think the guy's exaggerating a bit to justify his crazy price.

"60's", not a '78.

I was simply looking for a Hiwatt mention.
I’d also say I doubt he knows details on a lot of his own gear. If you read interviews with him, he comes across as unsure on many details.
I’ve owned lots of gear I didn’t know or care about the details of.

Late 70`s was not good years for Hiwatt. The company was bought and sold a few times.

I’ve heard people say this. I’d just say I owned and played a Biacrown era 100 watter as my main amp for many years in the 90’s. It was the most powerful, punchy, chunky beast of an amp I’ve ever had. I loved it and it never had an issue the whole time I had it. I will say one thing…..you better have your chops together if your gonna gig a Hiwatt. You hear EVERYTHING!

Love my DR103 but that price is insane, i don't care who has owned it.

In order to qualify for "used on the road extensively", it likely means that he played Wings of Change on it night after night. I mean these thing have a cool grind opened up but that gain is all Marshalls or modded Marshalls. Love both players but those tones I love aren't coming out of a 27k Hi-watt amp.

He personally bought the amplifier in 90s in Vancouver (Canada).
Yeah, during the time when no one gave a two flying fucks about rock n' roll anymore. A must have amp absolutely.

Yeah when I was buying all these rock star owned guitars. Late 90s. Nobody cared less. I was like living the dream. Haha

It was all Pearl Jam or some other music stuff I didn’t listen to.
