Damn. I always rock my Carvin V and Quickrod at shows. I'm going to have to reconsider now that I know he plays the same rig....

Stryper was the only band that HAD mids in the 80's.

...but they weren't haunting... ;)

I love when singers are great guitar players. Cool stuff!

I saw a video of him recently where he is running some SansAmp thing into the front end of his amp with a boost at a high mid frequency. Almost a cocked wah tone. I can't remember the frequency he was boosting (500K?). Does that sound like it could be right? Anyway, I didn't pay much attention because I thought is sounded too....weird.

With a Mesa. Follow 3 Special Steps, and you'll succeed.

3rd step is spandel related.

Scott is currently building him a rig for recording and the subsequent tour..a quick rod, a pro mod and a few cabs

so Does Michael Sweet still have to do the eq before the amp

or does the Splawn weird mids = the Stryper tone?

He's got the weird built into the chassis now.

That would be funny if he still used a parametric in front of it.

Maybe the two weirds would cancel each other out and sound more normal, or be weird x2?

Either way it's a weird situation to be in I would imagine.

Funny--that's my QR in the vid that I loaned him for the gig. I believe that tone is 1st gear on the QR boosted with the T21 Para up front. Not sure of the exact frequency. Michael is an awesome guy, extremely down-to-earth... case in point--I had no misgivings whatsoever about handing him my QR, letting him use it for the LA Canyon Club and House of Blues Anaheim shows, then returning it to me (which he did).

Can't wait to hear what he's going to do with the gear Scott is building him. Rock on!!

You're wrong... Mids were actually invented in 1991...
Weird mids, circa 2003
