each part is approx. 30-40 sec (44, 31, 46, 32, 27, 35) if you want to skip certain things.

Tubes are 6L6, volume is "loud room level".
Audio files were normalized after the recording though (I prefer to keep the mic pre level low, thats the reason for normalizing afterwards).

Oddly enough, I could work with either one!!

It sounds as if the 90's are brighter probably because of they are heavier in the mids.

Hi Ralph,

as you've said, the MC90 is much more mid heavy, the CL80 has a hole (not as much as a G75T IMO). If I'd play this stuff the younger folks are playing (chugga and such) I'd avoid the MC90 (and the V30). The CL80 sounds IMO much better for them.

I will put both into a 2x12"- should be cool :D

I think pairing a cab with a midrange heavy speaker and one with a bit of a scoop will sound KILLER. I just did that in a studio and the result was incredible :rawk: I know Bogner does that in the Uber cab but i think the 80's would be a better fit then the 75's.

With that said the MC90's were most definitely designed for the Boogies with Graphic Eq's because they hold up even when you dump the midrange slider on the EQ. Those speaker also take on a different vibe when you front load them (I guess that can be said with any speaker though hahahha!)

YOU

Bah, you rock much harder - and you are more than correct (of course). :D

If you really like the MC90s and CL80s, try to find some old Rola Celestion 80s. You won't be sorry ;)

Marked for when I get home, youtube blocked at work...

Thanks Gary. I take it those were the G12H80 (psycho)Dave was talking about?

In my office it is the other way round: YT allowed, MP3s blocked :D

Thanks for the comparison...I prefer the MC90 over the CL80 for sure in that clip. I'm not big on the CL80 mid scoop. I guess I like low/full mids a lot.

Near the end when you played the rhythm for 'Cold Sweat', you could hear the MC90 had much more balls and fullness in comparison, that's why I like that speaker. Single notes for soloing sound big to with the MC90. Sounds great in a band mix on stage as well.

I've tried RI Greenbacks, Heritage Greenbacks, H30's, Vintage 30's, Celestion Blue, several Webers...so far I like the MC90 the best of all of them.

Nice video, I have had both speakers, and I prefer the CL 80. The C 90 has more "sizzle" on top, and less mids, and more bass, but for clean I like the MC 90 better.

Yes the ones PsychoDave mentioned, but no H in the title. 'H' ones are merely a CL80 variation from not too long ago.

Expect a similar huge tone with little breakup (for Celestion standards) in an old G12-80 but they have more British character in the mids compared to the neutrality of MC90s/CL80s. And try to find the bass cone version (444).

Thanks for the discussion and the hints everybody.

MC90 for me, but it sounds like the MC90 had the correct mic position and the CL80 was miked in a different location or something.

Nice playing dude. CL80 for me; I like the midrange a lot more.

Thanks guys. I'm still undecided which to keep in there. Probably will reinstall a well broken in V30s :D

MC90 had way more balls on these clips. The CL80 had less mids and sounded kind of hollow.
