My latest DTM Vintage Single Cut new build is inbound. Can't wait to get into this puppy. 25" scale to handle some drop tunings, mahogany/maple/ebony. WCR Iron Man PU's. I spec mine out a little different than what he build for retail. I don't care much for bound necks, so I leave that off and this scale length is great. The signature offset MOP inlays with florescent side dots are easy to maneuver with and one thing I always get is the MOP trinity knot truss rod cover. Cool eh?

I just cannot say enough about David's luthier skills. He makes one hell of a fine guitar. This one was built for playing, not case candy. Yes, I have already ordered the next VSC. To me, this the most convenient way around Gibson's QC problems over the last 15 years and a hell of a lot more comfortable to play.

I typically don't go on looks alone, but just seeing these kinda makes me wanna sell a couple of my lesser used axes and just 'go for it' and get one. Bloody things look like they play themselves man!! I love the fact the strings over the nut are straight to the tuning pegs; a pet peeve of mine when they're not - and yes, that coming from a Lester fanboi.

Ya man, congrats. I need to check these out, but c'mon, RT is responsible for being one of my largest annual expenses

I wouldn't seek to try and replace someones "good" Les Paul or influence a decision. But, where I can't count on getting a good LP, one can count on getting a perfect guitar from David, or any number of builders. The body design is better suitable and the balance of the guitar. The pudding is in the neck and action. The tenon runs way up the length of the body. Plus, you can get whatever PU or electronics configuration makes you happy and he'll shoot you pics of the top with the pattern laid out on it, if you choose a flame or quilt or koa top. He uses all Tone Pro's hardware. If you really want to throw some coin, he does some inlay work that is incredible. Takes him 4 months or so. A $1500 deposit gets you started and the balance paid before it hits the paint shop. My next one will be a flame top. Sent money and he will get started. I will think about finish for a few months as well as the PU package.

Dave's good people man.

Killer guitar, man.

Verty nice! Collings makes a killer SC LP style guitar (City Limits Dlx) as well....you should definitely check one out if you haven't yet

I live about 6 miles from the factory and have been there a few times. Great people there and a world class factory that builds absolutely amazing instruments. Played a few there that had me gassing hard.

Dig the neck joint

Yeah, he started doing the carved heels this year. It makes a hell of a lot of difference for playability and comfort.

Thanks for the 411, might be a 'next year' project. But definitely worthy of a look for sure...

That is exactly what I'm looking for.
What is the neck carve like?

David's are like a 60's Les Paul carve. Very handy!

I was fortunate enough to pick up a VSC Jr a few years ago off a dude on TGP, and it is everything I hoped it would be !!!
Simply fantastic on all counts. One day I"ll get to custom order VSC,too. Congrats, Steve !

Unless they were just a really good, give-away price on ebay or here, I would have one built to your specs. It's pretty exciting to see the process in pictures on David's website of your build. From wood selection to fabrication, paint shop and final. It's cool to see your own ideas being transformed from billets to a nice guitar with your own twists. Dave is quite flexible too with your ideas and actually is always asking for your ideas when it comes to paint, design, PU package, etc. Great dude and a fun experience.

If you had 3600 to spend and was headed out to search for a new Les Paul Custom, you wouldn't find or get much. Take that same money and have one built for you that will be of the highest quality and make you happy for years, instead of having something that 50,000 other people have.

Rambling here, but can't say enough good things about David and his craftsmanship.
