Made a quick clip of my newest Motor City Pickups, the 2nd Degree Black Belts.
Just improvised riffage and wanking.

These 2nd Degree Black Belts are slightly underwound with the Bridge reading 8.25k, and the Neck 7.23k.
Also, the G12M65's are loaded into my Achillies Nemesis 2x12 Open-Back Cab. Great cab!

Which one do you prefer, 2nd Degree Black Belt or Detroiter? They both seem to have a nice mid growl to them.

Thoughts on the Detroiters and these?
It's really hard to pick a fave MCP bridge. They are all great in their own right. And each of the models I own share traits that I really like.
They each have a nice growly character to them. Really raw and pissed-off sounding.
And each one has a chameleon-like quality in that they thicken up when soloing on the treble strings. But stay really tight, articulate and defined when playing chords on the wound strings.
The Detroiter and Hot Head both have prominent and grinding mids (the Detroiter's mids being voiced a little higher) whereas the 2nd Degree Black Belts have a little less in-your-face mids, but they still have that killer grinding character to them.
And the Detroiter and Hot Head's lows are similar but the Detroiter seems to have just a little more thickness and bounce. Whereas the 2nd Degree BB has a bit more stringiness to it. But they all have a nice percussive attack.
I have an Afwayu set on order too, so I'll soon be able to demo and compare those as well. And I'm selling off all my Bare Knuckles (except my Painkiller 7 set) after my experiences with MCP's.

sounds great

lots of string clank on the camera mic
Thanks mate. Yeah I didn't think the Zoom H4n would pick me up where I was standing just out of the room.
I know better for next time though. :)

Cool thanks for the input. Looks like the Detroiter would be the best choice for me so far. I'm curious about the Afwayu and the Nuke too. It seems that you are trying all the MC pickups I ever wanted to try one by one.Rock on! :rawk:

Because the Painkiller is your favorite BKP ?

No worries mate. Yeah I would have loved to try the Torque, Hell Baby and Angel Dust sets as well.
I'm quite pissed at myself for waiting so long to try MCP's and missing out on the production runs for those models.
As soon as the Afwayu's arrive and are installed, I'll get a vid of them through my rig for a rough comparison.

Yep it's the only BKP I tried (and I tried loads of them) that ever really stayed put in the same guitar for a significant amount of time. It's been in my 7 string guitar since 2009.
It has a very unique and aggressive mid grind that whilst quite abrasive and harsh in the room, comes into it's own within the context of a mix.

What is the wait time for ordering?
IME after payment is processed it's taken anywhere from 3 weeks up to 5 weeks from payment to delivery (I reside in Australia mind you) but that's a wait I'm willing to make for Wade's pickups. For me there is something very special in Wade's creations that I've yet to find elsewhere.

Ok thanks. I tried buying off the website but wasn't sure about the shipping costs. I'm in Canada and when I entered it in there was no cost. Is it free shipping all around or is it added later?

No prob mate.
Yeah the shipping gets added later when your MCP is ready to ship.

I have an Afwayu on the way too. I'm only a few hundred miles away from him but shipping was only $7. Current wait time 3-4 weeks. I can't wait!
