so this is my frankenstein tele project which is a Fender HWY1 Body + MIM Neck, which i attacked with power tools.

made a vid of some riffs/improv licks and lead/cover song in tribute to my favourite tele player.

Jet City JCA20H (plus suhr shiba drive boosting the lead parts...i have no idea why the volume slightly drops in the middle of the lead...it doesnt happen in iMovie...only when it exports? oh well)

Framus CS/Ruby Top

Thats Awesome! I love the cutaway idea and pickups (ala Richie Kotzen :-D).

Ive been wanting to do a cutaway on my Natural Finish Lite Ash Tele, the 'Slab' body is the only thing i dislike about them. Problem is its a 3 piece body and lacquered. Do you think its possible to do a cutaway job without having to re-finish the whole body? Or am I just making work for myself?

Great Guitar, sounds really cool, very inspiring :-D

all i can advise is...it depends on what the finish is (ie is there tint/ or a stain...have a look inside the routes and see if you can see any unfinished areas
then make a decision from that...
teles look good with worn down bits anways...dont they?

That sorta an homage to Kotzen? Dig it man!

sure is...he is one of my favourite players (my wife says i have a man crush on him) who i based my tele specs on. im led to believe his sig tele has a stupid fat neck...and where im located the chances of one popping up locally to try before buying are pretty much ZERO.
in the demos, didnt play what he plays note for note, because i just dont have the time and skill to pull his stuff off so i did the best with what i was capable of.

i did the routs as i couldnt find an off the shelf tele with the specs i wanted, (or one that i wanted/could afford, that i could justify committing a crime of modifying the body)

total cost for frank < $500AUD (as i bought mostly everything used)

yes - Louisville slugger thick! thats why I sold mine. But it was a great guitar.

if anyones interested, JCA20H settings for the first clip (the gainer one) were

Gain 5 (for rhythm) 7 for Lead(then boosted)
Bass 5
Mid 7
Tre 6
Master 4
Prescence 4
Depth 5

Sounds like a great score. I'm definitely a Kotzen fan myself, and I like his blues inflected stuff a lot more than his first shrapnel recordings; just a lot of good songwriting in his later stuff, to me. Cool Tele, and great playing!

You are the reason for me buying the JC20H. Well, one of the reasons anyway.
Top sound and a very sweet Tele. I first found your demos on You Tube. Many thanks!
