Does anyone know of a midi foot controller that can switch 4 channels on an amp, a solo switch and an effects loop switch? I know I can program 10 or more channels of a standard midi foot controller and bank up and down to do this, but I am looking to step on one of 4 channel switches, and then still be able to activate a solo (5th switch) and/or effects loop (6th switch) for that channel like my old Mesa Dual Rectifier. This means having 2 or 3 switches activated at once, a channel, effects and solo. My new Diezel head requires a midi switcher.

Which Diezel head do you have?

It will be easier to spec a controller to help you. (e.g. can you assign MIDI CC to each amp channel, solo function, and F/X Loop?) I've already got some ideas swimming around in my head.

I have a new VH4S....

After a little research, it looks like your amp will only respond to MIDI Program Change commands. This will allow you to have control over all programmable functions on the amp. As an example, the Rocktron Midimate is a good companion to your amp. You could try to find a cheaper MIDI control pedal, but your need is for the pedal to send Program Change commands. Unfortunately, it does not look like you will have individual real-time control over the individual functions in the amp since it does not recognize MIDI Control Change commands. What you will need to do is select the preset number on your MIDI pedal -> set all functions on your amp for the particular preset -> hit the Store button on your amp twice to confirm the preset. Now, anytime your amp receives that particular Program Change command, your amp will recall those particular settings.

Rocktron has a cheaper version of a MIDI controller that sends Program Change commands, called the MIDI Xchange. You can read about the two controllers mentioned by the following links:

You'll find them under Products -> Controllers

Hope that answers your question.

Thank you very much!! I have looked at the Midi Mate and a couple others.... the midi mate has a manual that is like 32 pages..... what do you think about these for my situation?
1.) Tech 21 midi moose
2.) RFX MP128
3.) Behringer 1010
4.) Roland FC300 (friggin 72 page manual)

Also....whats the deal with 5 pins and 7 pins... my Diezel has 7 pins...

First things first...The difference between 5 and 7 pin MIDI is that (I believe) the 7 pin MIDI connector will supply Phantom power to the MIDI controller pedal, therefore bypassing any need to use a power adapter for your pedal. I believe Rocktron's MIDI pedals use a 7 pin connector as well and might be able to take advantage of this feature. Remember, you can plug a 5 pin cable into a 7 pin connector, but not the other way around.

So, on to your other question. The Behringer and Roland are probably way more than what you need, but in case you ever go with a rack system and have an FX unit that can utilize the other functions, might be nice to already have. If you know in advance that you will never do that, then the Tech 21 and RFX are going to be the best bets for you. All you really need is a pedal that will transmit P.C. commands. So, keep in mind things such as ruggedness, price, and what ever else matters to you.

Hope that helps!

Sure you could do it with this:
