Hey Giles, search on youtube for Haggerty's(spelling?) Music there's a great side by side demo of the old and new on there. The newer one in that vid sounds brighter to me.

EDIT: Now that I'm home and can access youtube...

P.S.

talk to erock because he has one, theres only a few people that have played both or even own a new version rect but he knows great tones.

IMO the best improvement is that the fx loop is better (supposedly). Although I still can't get a solid answer to whether it's serial now or still parallel. Even Boogie didn't know when I called and asked.

I played thru the new DR and i still prefer my 2 channel heads.

The new features are a great improvement but the tone is still the same as the old 3 ch guys. Though they did change the clean - for the better.

Ive ABd them. They both can be dialed to sound identicle.

I sold 3 dual rects a year ago and as many as 7 over the years and to my ears the new amp is clearer sounding in the gain, little bit brighter and the lows feel a little tighter, i like the newer rect better and i can hear a difference, i have seen where some can hear it and theres some that think it sounds the same, everybody hears different things. Im not saying its a huge night and day diffence but it is a difference.

The vid clip in the thread was pretty cool, i liked it.

2010 sounded better than my 92' Rackto.

Had 'em at the same time, side by side.

Erock likes his 2010 too. I'm just sick of Rectos because they don't get along with everyone.

I have heard some GREAT clips of the 2010 recto's but everytime I played one I thought it was a tad cold and bright compared to the sound I had in my head from my older 3 channel rectos...

I remember bringing my guitar and OD pedal to this local store and playing a 2010 Dual there and being kinda dissapointed about 8-9 months ago. After I left the store I went home and played my 2005 3 channel recto and liked it alot more.

I don't care about the new clean channel or the loop in the new 2010 as I never felt the loop on my 2005 recto sounded fine... All I run is a little delay pedal in it anyway

Again I never played them side by side for a "by the numbers comparision" hence this thread...

I thought about buying a 2010 for a brief moment this week and came across 3 of them for sale (including a 2010 triple with all the bling and like 5 hours in it for $1200 shipped and a like new dual 2010 locally for $1150.00)

Seems like there are some give aways on this amp if you look around...

But I in the end hooked up a great deal what amounts to a brand new 2008 with full warrenty and all the bling yesterday...

Can't wait to get it and put my flavor of tubes in it...

From that video the reborn Recto sounded sharper and clearer to me , but it actually sounded more like a mic positioning
difference?

The cabs in that video are just for display and they used another cab and mic for both amps but it wasnt shown, they talked about it on the boogieboard. So the same cab and mic was used for both amps, from what i understand they didnt change the mic placement for each amp.

After owning multiple single, dual and triple rects and Hear a difference, some might like it better or some might hate it or some might not hear it, theres also a difference in the feel and to me the lows are tighter and more focused. i like to judge amps when played thru my own guitars and cabs in my enviroment. I cant go in guitar center and play a amp and get a true opinion of it.
