Mesa 2x12 extremely boomy

I have a Mesa 2x12 and while it sounds great with Mesa amps, it makes other amps sound way too bassy and boomy. I've put a Diezel Einstein on it and a Bogner Uberschall, both of which should have excellent percussiveness, but through the Mesa 2x12 it was so boomy and bassy all percussion was lost.

So I'm thinking of buying a new cab that has more balance in tone. I don't want so much high end its shrill, but I don't want so much low end that everything is a bassy blur.

Any recommendations?

An Einstein and an Uberschall boomy? Nonsense. No offense friend, but I doubt the Mesa 2x12 is the problem, more than likely it is revealing the problem.

Seriously, why did you even reply?

The Recto cabs can be a little boomy. Mine is the same way with certain amps. IMO the Traditional/Stiletto cabs are much more balanced and very tight sounding. Try a Stiletto 212.

Bogner 212s are great too.

I have heard that the Bogners are great. I know a Diezel cab would go best with the Einstein, but those are a pretty penny. That's interesting about the Stiletto 212. I need to find one and play out of it.

Thanks for the great suggestions!

Did you try turning down the bass on the eq? That's what the EQ in an amp is there for, to match up the amp to the cab/speaker.

Seriously, head to head the Stiletto cabs are a lot less scooped and much more balanced. I prefer them even with my recto. Gotta buy one eventually. Orange 212s are really nice too. Punchy as hell! Strong low end, but it stays controlled.
