Mesa 50/50 power amp versions

Looking to pick one up for my Studio Preamp. Studio use only so don't need tonnes of grunt, and word has it that they're pretty much a Mark series power section.

There seems to be an earlier version with no rear grill and a V2 - any insights on these two versions or the units in general?

I used to have a couple. Both were the second version. The main differences between the versions were (1) the 2nd had a transformer choke and (2) the power tubes ran at full range.

Thanks man. I've now got a V2 on the way so I guess I'll find out if it works for my needs.

There was talk somewhere that the V2 has a fixed depth circuit, not sure how true this is.
