I've tried them all. This is the best isolated amp switcher on the planet. I am not sure why Mesa quit making them, other than the economics of carrying the product line of outboard equipment. If you are running multiple amps, I highly recommend finding a used one. It doesn't use MIDI switching (discontinued prior to the MIDI craze), but I am using GCX sends to control it.

Hey Steve,

I have been watching the thread about he Radial JD7, because I am very interested in finding an amp switcher solution.

I have a Lehle SgoS, but hat only allows 2 amps, maybe a third. This says 4 amps, right?

Shark, what is the EGG you mentioned?

Just really curious what is best and most economical

You like it more than the Egg? Why?

Well, different beasts. The Mesa is runs A/B/C/D or any combination of the 4. The Eggie just runs 1 of 4, either A or B or C or D. The Mesa is not a load box.

Egnater SS4 - MIDI, Line out for fx.

The Mesa runs four amps at the same time? Wow. Not sure I'd want to deal with all that phase and cabs,

Thanks for clarifying Shark.

Personally, I would like to be able to have access to 4 amps, while only using 2 at a time. Hopefully there wouldn't be too many phase issues.

Are you using the Egnater SS4?

OK. I am fucking sorry I posted this now. If you don't want the ground loop problems and buzz/hiss associated with stuff today and crappy input buffers, this is an option for you. I wouldn't dream of running 4 amps either. It is a seamless piece of gear, no programming required. Excellent isolation. Depending on your amps/gain stages, you may have a phase issue to sort out.

well, I have a rig with it, but that rig doesn't go on the road anymore - too big. :)

I totally understand. I don't think carrying around many amp heads and cabs is very realistic either. I would enjoy having access to hem at the studio or rehearsal and fun though :D

Is the Egnater a one-at-a-time thing as Steve suggested? I am interested in running 2 at a time, if that is doable and doesn't present huge problems.

Did you comment on the Radial JD7 thread? Expensive, but interesting...

Never tried that Radial. Have used other Radial things like DIs and they were great. Egg is one at a time. I used it with these:

Egg is at the bottom of the top rack.

Try an Axess BS2 if you don't need to switch amps. If just both at the same time I never had any ground issues with that.

That's a pretty slick looking rig. What are you using for preamps?

You must be collecting those Soldano's, wow!

I have a 2290, love that. Using an Axe FX for effects currently.

Never heard of the Axess B2. I will check it out, thanks.
