Every time I plug into a mesa cab that's loaded with these, they sound really good to my ear, especially if its up against a marshall cab. I think the speakers sound really rich. I'm not a speaker expert, so what exactly am I hearing? Is anyone else a fan of the Black Shadow's?

I really like MC90 speakers, and they can make a 1x12 combo sound really large.

I am huge fan of the Boogie MC90 speaker but they do have a specific sound to them that you will either like or not.

They also sound very different when used in a Front loaded cab. My MC90's are loaded in a Front loaded Earcandy ported cab and they have a very cool complexity to them that reminds me of an old greenback. My speakers are dark (which I like) and they have a pronounced midrange. They pair well with some amps and not so much with others lol.

Mine sound exactly like this. I suspect some people will love it and others not so much but this is a cool example of one of the sounds I get out of them.

I have an old mesa metal grill 4x12 loaded with MC90s, you are welcome to demo it as I know you are in CT.

I like the MC90's though I prefer the CL80's by a bit. I had the MC90's in a mesa halfback 212 cab with the top open and didn't like them much in there, I think I should have tried an EV in the bottom. I do like the MC90's in the top of my halfback 412 cab.

I agree.I installed a Celestion "Black Shadow" MC-90 in my '85 Dean Markley CD-30 tube combo and it made the amp's clean, crunch and heavy overdrive tones really come alive.I installed the same speaker in my son's Mesa/Boogie Studio 22+ to similar sweet results.
