I did a quick comparative demo of my Mesa Boogie amps, both tracked with the Two Notes Torpedo VB101.

Indeed, the Mark V is my first amp that doesn´t need to be boosted with a clean boost / tube screamer.

I definitely prefer the MKV. I keep thinking about getting one again, then remember how much I always struggled to dial it in. I sure miss the versatility though.

Just get one

Its a high end amp that wants to be dialed in correctly, but it sounds stellar with the right setting, cab, and guitar. Keep in mind, that the 3 band EQ is pre gain and the 5 band slider EQ is post gain.
