So ive got an 89 Mesa boogie Mark III, It still sounds great, but power switch feels lose, sometimes it wont shut off, smells like somethings melting in there, so im scared to turn the amp on???

Dont take a chance- change it. Not hard at all on a MKIII. Call them and tell them to ship you one. Thats not a common thing on those that I know of ;)

I hope you get that worked out. i once bough a JCM 800 on ebay and it smelled like something burnt in it. I ended up selling it on craiglist to some punk band that didn't mind the odor. I am glad that I got out of that deal. Hope the same for you.

Mark III's are definitely keepers...agree, don't chance it, get that sucker fixed ASAP! :D

my buddy andy at amps-tubes.com is a mesa certified tech, his basic mark III servicing is 35% off right now, 98 dollars total. mesa charges upwards into 200-250 for the caps/resistors replaced and a general going-over. andy is very knowledgable. at any rate, you need to get that looked at, that sounds like a serious issue. might as well through in some new tubes, dougstubes has a great preamp tube concoction for these amps. i had 3 of these, green stripe, blue stripe, and purple. purple was by far my favorite!

What is his turnaround time?

Thanks

He said he planned on having my amp for 3-5 days depending on how inte4nse his work schedule gets. mesa will keep your amp for 4-5 weeks.
