I would love to get some opinions here. I have a 20th Bogner Shiva with EL34s and PWE Event Horizon, also EL34s. I love these amps and am looking for a thierd amp this summer. I was looking at these three Mesa Boogies for something different. What do you guys think of these three? I know the Electradyne is more british, but I hear it as a cross between a Boogie and a Marshall JMP. I played a friend's Rectoverb and love it, great, rich clean tones and really thick, rich gain tones. His Rectoverb is the series 1 and I am told the series one has a better tones than the series 2?

What about the Tremoverb?

More and more I think I will go the Electradyne route. I played my friend's Electradyne and thought it beat his Friedman Marsha because it was chewier and thicker, more my thing.

So how about these three amps? Any thoughts and comments?

I am in a 90s rock and hard rock cover band.

Thanks!

I don't like the Rectoverb at all.

Tremoverb is my favorite and Electrodyne is very impressive, too. Unfortunately, comes down to personal taste and I'd have to re-play them both to make the best decision, but leaning towards Tremoverb. There are lots of great sounds in there, even though I love the simplicity of the ED.

Never played a PWE, but I would think you could cover 95% of the Electrodyne w/ the Shiva. Could be wrong, tho...

But the Tremoverb sounds bigger than the ED, right? Thing I liked about the Rectoverb series one was the amazing, rich cleans and the gain was so thick and smooth and chewy!!!! So buttery and syrupy and sounded great at bedroom volumes to stage. I always prefer 50 watters.....unless I can make it work.

When looking at the tremoverb and rectoverb, I wish I knew if series II is worth it.
Or maybe I can get close enough tone with the ED and a pedal.

I'd actually recommend a recto reborn if you're considering the tremoverb but cannot find one. I was at the same point a few months ago and jumped on a T-verb, but it was a close call between a reborn recto.

Just putting in my .02 :D

I had a Reborn Rectifier and sold it. I could not get a solo tone out of it I liked and hated how it felt. The Rectoverb and Electradyne feel so much better and solo much better, juicier. I found the Reborn to be sterile. Even the Tremoverb solos much, much better. The Tremoverb and Rectoverb are the only Rectifiers I have found I can get along with long term. I like simple so the ED may be it. Even my PWE can bother me with all the knobs but it sounds so dang good.

Been playing the Electra dyne and Rectoverb a lot lately and I thikn the Rectoverb is the best Mesa I have ever played. So rich and thick, so harmonically rich, perfect for alternative and crunchy rock tones. I don't play metal nor any heavy rectifier type tones, but this amp is so great for classic tones or alternative sounds. Love it. Tremoverb is nice too, sounds similar but need more volume to sound better and get in the sweet spot and we play in smaller places.
