Well 232cap splawner n I went to tour the new Mesa boogie royal Atlantic. I know they were as blown away as I was. But I'll let them have there 30 seconds of media lol.

We played this dam thing for like 2 hours at a local music store. Played it thru a Mesa standard recto cab. V30s. I brought my USA evh Wolfgang drop tuned to drop
A#. Also used an ibanez premium. Anderson n an Erie ball of some sort petruccu model. Also some guy tried it out w a prs mica. The amp took all we gave it. The clean channel was so fucking perfectly chimey warm. ;) ....The lo gain was eh' :aww: be nice to mod this one up. !!! Now the high gain. We got everything from eighties to modern rip out of it. It is so freakin liquid tight. Not even noisy w gain dimed! It's not like a recto at all. But fat enuff for drop tuned crush. Eighties those guys were all smiles :D !!! Lead tone is just smooth as silk. The reverb is excellent in the amp. We all agreed don't even need attenuater it cuts your highs. But the 100/50 watt mode is nice. Hit 50 watts n push it
We also tried new triple recto multi watt. After going back n forth honestly. I am just blown away. I now know why lamb of god is using it. This thing must record beautifully.

Looking to trade or sell my Herbert to get one. It's on classified section. Hope art n Vince will chime in now ! Fun day guys. Nice seeing you again!!!

Ps yes we had it cranking! If it's too loud. Leave the store !

Some great reviews coming in for that amp! How do they compare to the Mark Series? Is there any one genre of music that they seem to excel at more than others?

No. I think it covers all. It goes from mild to wild. But not like a recto. The gain is just so perfect? They were playing acdc stuff, vh, dokken, the other guy was playing some laid back bluesy shit. Roll of your volume n it cleaned up so nice. Going from the 9 n 10 gauge strings to 12-56 drop a# that's when I knew the amp can do metal well!!! It has a hotrodded Marshall kinda vibe but is def a Mesa tone. It touches on more of mark gain. Def reminds me of chevelle tone. I just gotta own one.

I think the mid gain or crunch is pretty cool on the Royal as well, I imagine it would take a Tube Screamer like a charm. Overall I think Mesa has a killer amp here.

If it has what you are after, the price of a new one is nice for sure, $2000. It amazes me how low Mesa has been able to keep their prices over the years, relatively speaking, as compared to other amp manufacturers - especially with everything still being made in the USA. I will give them an attaboy that.

So, how did the built in attenuation react with the amp?

None of us cared for the brake. It choked off the highs. With it being 50or 100 watt on 50 turned down it was even a great bedroom amp. I have no complaints except I don't own it YET

Mesa are built to unreal specs. They r almost bulletproof. Very few amps have the extreme build quality of Mesa. Marshall are made like freakin junk. Mesa still holds there quality n like u said there prices are fair! Some of these amps we buy are friggin ridiculous 4-5 grand for a head. That's retarded!

Its a Great amp, the notes seem to leap out of the amp. Very fun to play

I played one for a long time one day, with several cabs and speakers, and with a few different guitars. I wanted to LOVE this thing, and I just ...didn't. :dunno:
It was a decent sounding amp but I was expecting to be blown away.
My modded recto did the huge, crushing gain thing way better, and my Mark IV can get very close to the RA lead tones, but just has a better feel and tone to my ears.

What I was expecting was a killer high gain take on a modified Marshall, but with a hint of that Mark character, (sort of like a darker, more fluid Stiletto) but it isn't that at all. It's a Boogie tone, no doubt about it, but with a gritty, searing type of gain. It tries to get some brit kerrang, but just sounds like a wierd Boogie voicing that gets a little bit of Mark and a little british, but excels at neither.

Like a Mark without the polish and smoothness. It's not as tight or responsive as the Mark either. I found the low end to be farty, sort of like the Mark without the EQ on. Dunno...just couldn't really vibe with it.

Maybe I played a bad one? FWIW, I really loved the Electra-Dyne. The RA for me is how the Mark V was to Danyeo.  Supposed to be the end-all Boogie and came up short of my expectations. id like to try dif tubes in one before I make that my final call.

Ya man great killer amp....I have never got into Mesa products before but when i plugged into this amp i knew it was right for me  Chris you need to buy this amp

Yea I basically have no interest in the mesa stuff but the Royal Atlantic was a great sounding amp. I hear Marshall meets a Mesa tone. It actually has a nice warm tone. We basically had the amp pushed all the way but it seemed to have enough rip for most of the tunes we play. You get a lot of features in this usa built amp for fair money.

Damn. Keep hearing fantastic raves of this thing. I guess I'll have to give this thing a go.

Ya go give this amp a test ride....I was very impressed with this amp  It would make a nice amp to go along side my CCV

  You bastid. I'll say this, when I played the RA I didn't even play with the soak, I just shut it off. BUT, I think the Electra Dyne with a good OD pedal can do anything the Royal Atlantic can do. As long as a shared EQ doesn't bother you. But used prices on Electra Dynes are a great buy.

Yessir, the Dyne is a beast!!! I should give the Royal another go I think. It is very possible that the one I played had something wrong with it, most likely just worn tubes. (It was at a GC for that matter) I just can't believe that this amp doesn't have the rich, quality tone I was expecting to hear, especially if it's similar to the Electradyne even a little bit.

I'd love to try the RA, i have an Electra Dyne which sounded great with my old classic rock band but i tried it with a metal band a couple of weeks ago and even with a boost it didn't get anywhere near a full metal sund to my ears, i'd say the max gainwise it would do at volume is maybe Slayer if you had active pickups. It has a very strong mid range esPecially with my mahogany Suhr
