Im currently trying to recreate some Metallica tones using my TH30 and EMG loaded NJ Series Warlock. I have a rackmount eq but it just doesnt hit those specific frequencies that the Mark series amps have. My question would be which one is better for replicating say an AJFA tone?

Your best bet is to set the TH 30 relatively clean and then find the right distortion and EQ pedal in conjunction with each other.

I'm currently looking at this pedal to run in front of a clean Plexi to get that MoP/AJFA tone. I've also tried an eq and can get sort of close but results are not great. Trying not to get another Mark iv and just wondering if this would work in a pinch for occasional use.

Anyone have experience with this pedal?

You would need more gain than a plexi can give . So you would need a fat boost with an eq .

I'm using it as a clean platform for now. So was wondering if it was a good distortion box that might add a pseudo markish channel.

The Crab guy from Ukraine I believe makes a tube pedal based on a MKIII. You can find it on YouTube.

The closest to an actual AJFA tone for the shortest cash would be synergy box and a IICP module IMO

I haven't played or heard the Crab pedal, but the actual crab amp sounded very close to a Mark in the videos

Just checked out the Kalypso from Crab guy... looks huge but sounds pretty damn good - and tube based to boot!

It appears ME used to make a tube based mark pedal too but looks like the trinity replaced it.
